Now when going up a hill ideally Berylbus firstly needs a spurt of speed, foot to the floor and a fast run up, once the effects of this sprint have slowed a steady lowering of the gears usually results in reaching the summit. Today however was not ideal conditions, in front of me was a car, he hit the hill at a racing 30mph and proceeded to get slower and slower, I could feel his stress at every gear change, and let me assure you this was nothing like the stress me and Berylbus were feeling! After almost grinding to a stop, with a line of traffic all no doubt in 2nd gear and praying their brakes would work he finally found his accelerator and put on a burst of speed that saw him race away from me and disappear over the top! How Berylbus made it up I don’t know but it involved 1st gear, eyes shut and foot almost through the floor!
We are now home, Pebble has remained mud free and there’s still a hint of the poodle parlour fragrance although this is now being replaced by smells much more agreeable to Pebble!
Thanks for sharing this adventure.

Last night after the bonnet opening - 2 men 1 woman and the topping up of the brake fluid, a fire was lit.
This time I seem to have mastered the art.
But we came under what I can only describe as a deliberate, coordinated act of war. Like a highly trained elite force they attacked, no human or dog stood a chance, yes the midges had arrived!
Today has been spent in the heartbeat village. Pebble was taken to 2 craft fairs and hated both of them. Her new fragrant fur was much admired by all the people she did her please adopt me routine on!

So we try again! My carefully planned route avoiding mega hills was altered when my brake fluid light started flashing! 2 mot garages had none so Halfords it was. The bonnet wouldn’t open but I can’t say he put his heart and soul into it so I’m now armed with brake fluid and waiting for people to turnup and get the bonnet sorted! Sadly the new route took me up and down the most awful hills, not helped by the warning light blinking at me throughout!
Pebble has been professionally groomed she looks and smells gorgeous. Apparently she was as good as gold and there was only 1 very dead tick to be found! Now all I need is for her to be allergic to water, mud, foxpoo and stuff that breathed its last several days ago!

Little update am now home. Pebble was happily gasping her last and I really thought she was really poorly. Emergency vets were great - £60 to be told she’s probably fitter than me and that she’s just not coping with the hot weather!!!! Advised to take her home and rest! She’s such a fraud!!

What a day! From a 3am start for a solstice sunrise dip- pebble didn’t like the early start and not being able to pick me out in the water, she went and joined some non swimmers doing her please adopt me act!
Then a satnav special down a very long grass in the middle road with no passing spaces. We are now in Malton surrounded by van friends which is lovely. And given a beautiful crocheted blanket it really has been a great day

Pebble bought a pet home with her after the last trip, no it wasn’t a super cute retriever puppy but a very cheeky tick! I’m now the owner of a tick removal implement and her new little friend is no more! Tonight is summer solstice so we are camped out on the sea front, alarm set for 3am and plan to be in the sea for sunrise. I think both me and Pebble are getting a bit old for this

After seeing the biggest ever black clouds float past the van accompanied by some thunder rumbles the evening dip was halted. Just had to have pizza - it was rude not to so went to bed very full. Just got home, the wonderful fabulous never ever wrong satnav took me a very strange route, how I hate roads with grass in the middle and once past the point of no return a signpost saying soft verges and no passing places!!!
Just unloaded the last of the nasty green salady stuff, it’s heading straight to the bin!
Thanks to everyone I met up with on this adventure, hope all of you have safe travels

Sunshine and showers all day. I risked getting the awning out which at least kept me and the fish &chips dry and was great for a line of wet swim stuff. After a wonderful sausage sarnie it was off for a field and beach walk. Pebble was straight into the sea which at least washed off whatever gross thing she’d rolled in when I wasn’t looking - the fragrance spray will return!
I have been used as target practice by whatever nasty stingy things that were hiding in the grass, the only cream I had was tinted moisturiser - I now have tinted legs and lily white feet!

I was just planning on putting the awning out festoon it with pretty twinkly lights and get a fire pit going. All sounds perfect then the heavens opened, talk about black skies and a downpour! Pebble nicely damp from a paddle in the sea happily surrounded by the smell of wet dog fast asleep.
No river dip this morning it was really chilly and damp but a lovely sea dip this afternoon - I’ll never get everything dry

Woken up at very silly o’clock by some very strange lights creeping past the curtains and through the roof light. Closer inspection showed the very rare but welcome sight of the sun!
I had company in this mornings dip,1 extra human, 2 swans, several dragonflies and millions of little tiddlers.
Pebble found the ramp down to the water and in she went churning up a lot of mud from the bottom so 2 of her favourite things!
Last pub trip the left turn won the toss so yet again I expect the afternoon will be spent fast asleep

When I packed for this adventure I had lovely sunny warm June days in mind, a clean dry van and dry mud free Pebble. Never once did I consider I would attract biblical rainfall and arctic conditions! Poor Pebble just gets dried out ready for the next downpour, she’s even getting covered in a blanket!
I cannot describe the utter joy I felt when after a dip in the river I found the heated, huge towel rails in the shower rooms were all on!
Yesterdays pub was a right turn from the site, it would have been rude not to visit the one on the left today. Got back literally seconds before the heavens opened yet again

Rain rain and more rain! Anymore and I’m off to buy a boat! The day started with a dip in the river then me and Pebble set off on a walk. Like a magnet we were drawn to a lovely pub and sat outside for about the only dry half hour, bought some eggs on the way back a great assortment of colours and sizes. Got back to Berylbus and suddenly it was 4 o’clock- I really shouldn’t drink anything at lunchtime

Moved on today, have driven through goodness only knows how many counties, some more than once. Visited Beccles what a lovely market town. To the man that was very rude about my dry robe I really really hope the torrential downpour soaked you! Me and Pebble had lunch in Tescos carpark, nothing but the best for us!! Now in Norfolk camping along side the river, there’s a ramp into it that as yet Pebble hasn’t found

When the mechanic said my front tyres would be fine going to Somerset I don’t think he factored in the pothole ridden road behind Stonehenge! Couldn’t believe the amount of coaches and people there were at £28 a head! After a lovely weekend in Yarlington including a dip in the pool it was onwards to Cambridgeshire. You would think with all the practice I’ve had packing up Berylbus would be like watching a well oiled machine in action - no Beryl looks like a herd of children have opened their Xmas pressies and scattered everything everywhere! Me and Pebble are nicely parked up ready for the next adventure!

Well I shall never get a job as a fire starter or even become an arsonist!! A very nice young man arrived at the vans with his truck full of kindling wood and firepits. The thought of toasted marshmallows was too much to say no to the complete fire starter kit!
What a disappointment half a bag of kindling and nearlly a whole box of fire lighters and there was just a mere flicker of a flame, other campers across the field had a roaring blaze talk about fire envy!
There was finally enough flame for the marshmallow experience which was a very messy but delicious way to end the day. Me and Pebble have now moved on and are currently surrounded by loads of campervans (I now have serious van envy) ready for whatever the weekend brings

Not the best day ever for me or Pebble. It all started well enough and I took a clean dry almost smell free dog to a garden centre to meet Reg. This lovely man was my auntie Beryls partner and since she died I’ve carried on with fortnightly calls, he’s well into his 90s and is quite frail. We spent ages looking at bedding plants, Pebble was doing her very best “please adopt me and get me away from this monster” routine to anyone that was fool enough to even look at her! She visibly relaxed when we left only to be forced into a run around the whole place to try and find my lost handbag! Finally into Berylbus we got and headed back. I’m sad to report that following a stream incident she is no longer dry and smell free. BUT I have ammunition in the shape of doggy fragrance spray so perhaps all is not lost

Sadly I have to report that it all went horribly wrong! We had a lovely evening walk along the river and she was so good and never even tried to go in, but there was a rather nasty fox poo incident so the citrus fresh smell is now diluted with essence of coconut.
I have treated myself to a new toilet cassette and seat (I know how to live). Nowhere on the very limited instructions was it mentioned that a degree in mechanical engineering is needed to take the old seat off!!! After fiddling about I got the trusty tool kit out, now armed and very dangerous with a Phillips screwdriver and a bent knife I prodded and poked at the hinges. Anyone watching me in action would have been amazed not only for the professionalism displayed, but the language used. Finally the bent knife sorted the job out and I’m now the very proud owner of a beautiful new seat.

Finally we have set off on an adventure after many weeks at home. I’d like to say just how sparkly clean the house is and how tidy and w**d free the garden is but that would be a lie!
Pebble on the other hand is sparkly clean after her bath, the only smell coming from her is fresh citrus with a hint of wild herbs.
I’m parked in a lovely spot on the river strategically parked so she can’t see the river - what can possibly go wrong

I’ve had to stay at home this month, poor Pebble there’s no one giving her treats and the austerity anti chunky measures are being stuck to! I tried to drown her - tied up at the waters edge whilst I swam, with the tide coming in, so what with that and her “starvation” diet it’s been a pretty poor month for Pebble.
I was so excited about seeing the northern lights this weekend. Sadly I slept through night 1! Not put off I packed up Berylbus, organised an evening swim followed by light watching. Armed with firepit, wood and marshmallows off to the seafront we went. The gods of northern lights were watching and sent a sea fret down! It never lifted, it was so cold that the sun hat was ditched and bobble hat bought out of retirement! But convinced it would go I stayed. Swim cancelled, lights obliterated and too windy for a fire, but a lovely night in the van. Woke up to clear skies sunshine and a little breeze, seems very unfair!
There was a sausage sarnie with my name on it followed by a dip in the sea. More lights predicted so fingers x

Things I have learnt this week
1. Don’t wear a hat with a brim in the wind - it identifies itself as a frisbee.
2. The smell of aniseed liquor takes me straight back to nearlly 40 years ago and a very messy Pernod incident!
3. No matter how well packed and tidied the van is just finding 1 elusive item can result in total chaos.
4. Solar lights on the bonnet will snap when the wipers are switched on.
5. Despite being nice and friendly to it the satnav still hates me. Home now thanks for sharing g this adventure

It was all going so well, a lovely morning eating cake (it was carrot cake with an orange carrot as decoration - obviously very healthy! Then we set off on a walk - no mud, no water perfect until the fox poo incident! Now shampooed and drying out - fresh herbal essences will be permeating in Berylbus tonight.

I was on the beach first thing sussing out the waves, I wasn’t going to get caught out again with my cossie on all day! Had a lovely chat with some local dog walkers, all of whom had an opinion about us going in! Pebble met her match when a huge Great Dane came to inspect us!
3 of us went in the sea, the waves were rough and the wind was dragging us along- it was great and even better followed by posh coffee and a little brandy added. It turns out that the poor lady I introduced myself to and said there was a 10 mile walk or a swim in the North Sea (she chose the walk) wasn’t in our group and had just come away for the weekend!!! She’s now very tiddly and enjoying all the new friends she’s made

The sea swim that never was! The wind had whipped up the flat sea and the waves were hideous! So the cafe called. The windbreak is broken never to go up again, it lasted longer than one of the gazebos which is now in a heap waiting for the bin! After such a wild morning the sun finally put in appearance now just waiting for the wind to go! Poor Pebble has been blown along but on the plus side she’s stayed dry and clean all day

Forget the nasty green stuff a cooked breakfast is the way to go! Pebble enjoyed a dip in the sea then this afternoon it was gazebo and wind break errection time. It took 9 people several dogs (not pebble as obviously gazebos and windbreaks are nasty murdering machines!) and at least 3 hours but they are up! I’m going back to the company that sold me the windbreak for misrepresentation - I was promised ease of errection - it took 5 people 4 as pole holders and 1 peg basher, the wind was creating a kite experience and I’m not entirely sure it’s going to last the night fingers

Oh my word! I left home in lovely sunshine not even wearing my hat which has been welded on all winter! Got to Linconshire and parked up in my happy spot, now wearing coat, hat and gloves and am still freezing, the wind is brutal. My only consolation is that I have electric to look forward to tonight, the heater will be on! Pebble seems totally unbothered.
I have a new gadget for Berylbus which has been in action this evening, it’s a salad basher, it’s wonderful and almost makes eating the nasty green stuff that’s in my fridge bearable

There were just 2 vans left last night and what a night! There was a camp fire, there was gin and I was promised a sunset which was obliterated by what hit us later! Howling wind, pouring rain, sleet, hail and snow battered Berylbus all night! Managed to negotiate the now totally sodden and puddled field without getting stuck! Steep hill going down is everybit as scary going down as up!
Now home in the sunshine, washing on the line and no mud anywhere!

The site started emptying (1 tow 1 flat battery) then there was just 2 of us left. Spent the afternoon in Hebdon Bridge which was lovely - mudmagnet stayed in the van! Day 2 of no mud or fox poo can’t believe how lucky I am! There is still a slight revolting aroma detectable despite the luxury coconut shampoo! I was seduced in Hebdon by sunglasses (dame Edna eat your heart out) and a new hat and of course the lovely sunshine immediately disappeard
