Visiting all 50 states was probably on somebody’s bucket list, but studies show that out of 50 states, 8 is the average number most people have visited. Sadly, many never leave the state in which they were born. Put an X by all the states you have been to. Put a XX where you have lived. Passing through an airport counts--but flying over doesn't. The average is 8 for Americans.

We arrived late Sunday in Rapid City, South Dakota so decided to head to Mt. Rushmore the next morning. Spent a good part of the day Monday at Mt. Rushmore and the surrounding town before heading towards our next hotel stop in Roseville, Minnesota. We got in late and went right to bed.

Yesterday we went to In and Out Burger in Denver before getting back on the road to head to South Dakota and Mt. Rushmore. The landscapes are so pretty. 🙂

After spending the night in Williams we left yesterday to drive to the Four Corners Monument. We got a bit of a later start, but finally made it there. It was super windy and rainy when we arrived. We only ended up staying for a few minutes. Then we headed to Denver, Colorado. We had a super exciting drive through the Rocky Mountains consisting of rain, snow, darkness, fog, falling rocks in the road, a sheer drop off to the right with no guard rail, sharp turns, and a literal sign that said Even sharper turns! We survived and made it to our hotel in Denver at 3:30am! After some much needed sleep, we are headed to Mt Rushmore in South Dakota.

Had a great day on Saturday! We got up bright and early and left our Wigwam to drive to Williams, Arizona to get on the Grand Canyon Railway! We rode first class to the Grand Canyon and then spent 3 hours there before getting on the train back to Williams. The Grand Canyon was amazing. Pictures don’t do it justice. I definitely will be back to spend more time here. We spent the night in Williams and ate at Miss Kittys steakhouse for dinner on Historic Route 66. Sunday we head to the Four Corners and then on to Denver, Colorado.

Today we spent the day seeing the sights in Albuquerque. Started with lunch at the 66 diner. Then we visited Old Town, saw the old church that was built in 1793, went to the Breaking Bad Store, and drove the whole stretch of Route 66 through Albuquerque. After that it was on to Holbrook, Arizona. We drove through the town of Grants, New Mexico on the old Route 66. We are staying at the Wigwam Motel tonight. Tomorrow we get up bright and early to drive to Williams, Arizona and get on the Grand Canyon railway. 🙂

Today we left Tucumcari and drove to Roswell, New Mexico! 👽👽 We went to the UFO museum and some gift shops, then saw the McDonald’s shaped like a spaceship. 🛸 After getting our fill of the aliens, we headed to Albequerque. We checked into our hotel and will check out Albequerque tomorrow and then head to the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, Arizona.
