Emerald City Arts a production company and arts collective for film, music, and art with a social mission.
(1)

In The City we create traditional and digital media and art with a dual purpose: To address global issues and to design new methods for individuals to create and experience media and art in an increasingly connected world. Led by a collective of working artists who bring their own unique perspective and desire to affect positive change to each project, The City seeks to share media which is truly

revolutionary. To honor our commitment to social investment, we support organizations around the world that are doing incredible work in areas that apply to the subject matter of each individual piece of work we create. In addition, 10% of all profit we make from online platforms that showcase our films goes to our Kiva.org lending page (http://www.kiva.org/lender/emeraldcityarts1322) – to aid entrepreneurs in the developing world through micro-lending. Programs such as the AAWIC Media Series are so important to highlight the visions of African American women who may not otherwise have the opportunity to showcase their works via other platforms. It's imperative that these types of programs be supported to continue to share our work with the masses. I would like to encourage any African American women in cinema, whether they are behind or in front of the camera or on the page reading this with an idea to study their craft and go for it. Be true to yourself and tell the stories you want to see. We need your voice and vision.

Keep going,
Porcha Evans
