Happy Solemnity of Corpus Christi!

Spend some time in adoration today, thanking the Lord for the gift of the Eucharist.

“Grant, O Lord, we pray,
that we may delight for all eternity
in that share in your divine life,
which is foreshadowed in the present age
by our reception of your precious Body and Blood.
Amen.”

Prayer after Communion

The medieval church of Santa Maria Assunta.

One of the benefits of staying at religious houses and pilgrimage hostels is the close proximity of a church, offering beautiful spaces for Mass, personal devotions, and group prayers, such as the Liturgy of the Hours.

“In the Gospel, Jesus seems always to be traveling about.

He seems to be in a hurry to move from one place to another in order to proclaim the imminent coming of God's Kingdom.

He proclaims and he calls. His “Follow me” prompted the Apostles' ready response.

Let us all feel touched by his voice, his call, his summons to a new life.

I say this especially to young people, before whom life is opening up like a journey full of surprises and promises.

I say it to everyone: let us set out in the footsteps of Christ!”

—St. John Paul II, from Pilgrimage to the Places Linked to the History of Salvation

“The geographical pilgrimage is the symbolic acting out of an inner journey.

The inner journey is the interpolation of the meanings and signs of the outer pilgrimage.

One can have one without the other.

It is best to have both.”

—Thomas Merton

18/03/2024

“Pilgrimage is a symbol of life.

It makes us think of life as walking, as a path. If a person does not walk, but instead stays still, this is not useful; it accomplishes nothing.

Think of water: when water is not in the river, it does not course, but instead it remains still and stagnates.

A soul that does not walk in life doing good, doing many things that one must do for society, to assist others, or who does not walk through life seeking God and inspiration from the Holy Spirit, is a soul that finishes in mediocrity and in spiritual poverty.

Please: do not stand still in life!”

—Pope Francis
