Family there's an old African Proverb that say it takes a village to raise a child. This guy is one of the many New Orleans Jazz giants who nurtured my development as a New Orleans Jazz musician.

Not only did I study with Mr. Chatters, but it was under Mr. Chatters tutelage that together we would travel back to my ancestral home in Honduras and perform for the inauguration of their President in 1982. Afterwards we would perform together many over the years. I'm honored to call Mr. Chatters my mentor... my teacher... and my friend.

Always wishing him and his family of music icons the very best.

Always a distinct honor to have Preservation Hall Foundation Master Practitioner Mr. Maynard Chatters here for a visit. Behind the scenes documenting jazz funeral traditions for Preservation Hall Lessons, coming soon.
