Beautiful day at today - lovely walks (with paths for buggies and wheelchairs), plus food court, camellia maze and Cornwall tea. What’s not to like?! The gardens are open one weekend a year and you can do it all again tomorrow 21 April. We highly recommend 😌

One of our favourite spots in the house is the window seat in the main bedroom. It has fab views straight over the harbour, across the water up to Penryn.

It’s a lovely spot to curl up with a book or just sit and watch the world go by.

A few minutes from Fish Cross on the hill behind the primary school, there’s a playground with some of the best views around! A lovely spot to take the kids to play if they’re getting a bit bored.

The play area has a really sweet nautical theme complete with pirate ship and seagulls!

There’s also a green where the kids can have a run around whilst you relax and just take in those views.

Many people visit Flushing to enjoy the stunning walk to Mylor along the coast, but we also like walking the other way along the shoreline towards Penryn. It’s a lovely wooded path, with regular sneaky peeks of the water through to Penryn on the other side. You pass through Sailors’ Creek and when you reach the top of the river, there’s a marshland with boardwalks which is great for the kids and dogs to explore.

If you stop in Penryn, Muddy Beach is a really nice café for breakfast or lunch and very dog-friendly too.

One of the benefits of being located in Flushing is you not only have beautiful shorelines and countryside on your doorstep, but you are also nice and close to some fab local shopping.

Turo is twenty minutes away and is a great spot for your essential shopping, but it’s also a lovely city to wander round and enjoy the shops, cafes and market stalls.

On our last visit we particularly enjoyed a trip to Truro Market; lunch in Sabzi deli, which serves absolutely delicious salads (there’s also a branch in Falmouth); a visit to the Truro Art Company then a sneaky half hour in The White Company!

It’s a lovely mix of high street shops and smaller independent businesses and definitely worth a visit.

We just love our living room! With its large Victorian windows, it is beautifully airy and light. but in the colder weather, the wood burning stove makes sure it stays toasty and warm too.

The large sofa and snuggler mean there’s plenty of room to gather round and watch the fire burning or catch up on a bit of TV.

The icing on the cake is all the lovely local artwork, which makes the room really special.

Who’s eaten at The Mulberry in Falmouth yet?
We were lucky enough to eat there last week and the food was absolutely stunning. Alongside their meat options, the restaurant refreshingly had top notch tasting menus for both vegetarians and pescatarians too. Every single dish they served was delicious.
It’s a comfortable place to relax and eat, not stuffy at all. The experience is all about the food.
Honestly, if you get the chance to eat there, do, you will not regret it!

St Ives is a beautiful place to visit and only 40 minutes drive from Flushing. Beautiful cobbled streets, packed with galleries, shops and places to eat. The beaches are absolutely stunning too. Tate St Ives is also definitely worth a visit with stunning views across the sea.

During our recent refurbishment, we were keen to include artwork created by local illustrators, painters and artists.

The young lady who created this image couldn't get much closer to home, it's by our daughter Drawn by Freya! She drew this illustration of her Dad's boat ⛵

We love the way the artwork at Fish Cross has added so much character and fun to our lovely little cottage. You just can't have too many nice pictures!!

One of our favourite local walks is from Trellisick Gardens. It's a National Trust property, but there's no charge to enjoy the stunning, wooded walk along the waterside. As you can see from the pictures, it's very beautiful, whatever the season.

There's a cafe, gallery, gift shop, nursery and book shop at Trellisick too, which makes for a lovely day out.

A really fun idea is to catch the ferry from Falmouth to Trellisick - last time we took the trip we saw several seals sunning themself in the water .🦭

For a small village, Flushing is spoilt for lovely places to eat and drink.
The Royal Standard serves very delicious tapas, as well as pizza nights on Fridays (it has a pizza oven in the garden) and regular curry nights. It als has a fab selection of beers and wines and the staff are always super friendly.
There’s a lovely spot to sit in the sunshine at the front of the pub, or for beautiful views over the water to Falmouth, you can sit in their large back beer garden and drink in the views.
Very importantly, they’re dog-friendly too!

There’s no better way to relax after a long day at the beach than a lovely soak in a massive bath! As well as our luxurious freestanding bath, there’s also a large walk-in shower at Fish Cross for those who prefer to wash and go!

Make yourself at home!

We’ve spent a lot of time and energy refurbishing Fish Cross this year
to make it a perfect home from home. We wanted to create a lovely environment to relax and enjoy the stylish decor and thoughtful creature comforts.

We couldn’t have done it without the amazing Warren French who designed the scheme for us 🥰

Fish Cross has two large bedrooms which sleep four altogether, plus there is also a sofa bed for additional guests. This was perfect for Phoebe and her friends when they stayed earlier in the summer. So happy we could accomodate them and that they enjoyed their stay.

"A beautiful stay. The location of the house is perfect, just by the water and near to a lovely local shop and local pub. The house itself is very well fitted out, with all the amenities that we needed (even a dishwasher !) It has a very cosy feel, but is not claustrophobic - there were six of us and we didn't feel at all squished. All in all a really excellent holiday spot."

The walk along the coast from Flushing to Mylor Harbour is absolutely stunning, with glorious views across the water.

This is why Flushing is a very popular location for ramblers to use as a base for a their walking holiday on the Roseland Peninsula.
