"If you’re looking to start working or volunteering in Anti Poaching, Global Guardians is the place to start. Dustin has been great, helping me every step of the way and answering all my questions with the most detail."

Thanks Ethan, looking forward to seeing you over there protecting the wildlife.

This is one of the things that makes it all worth it for us. Knowing we have helped people get involved in conservation and made it an easier process by answering their questions and giving them the information they need.

Three rhino poachers have been sentenced to a whopping 105 years in prison for rhino poaching and other offences by the Skukuza Regional Court prosecuting team.
The sentences were handed down on September 2. The trio was arrested in 2017 after killing three rhinos in Marula (southern) section of the Kruger National Park (KNP).

The SANParks spokesperson, Isaac Phaahla, said two of the convicted poachers, Shangani Mathebula and Emmanuel Mdhluli, are from Mozambique while the other accused, Walter Hendrik Mangane, is a South African.

Phaahla said while the sentences were being handed down, the magistrate explained in detail the manner in which the poachers had killed the rhinos ex*****on style and were caught red-handed while in the process of plundering the animals.
The managing executive of the KNP, Gareth Coleman, congratulated the environmental crime investigative unit and ranger services for working closely with the investigating officer and the other SAPS service units to bring solid evidence before the court.
He commended the prosecuting team for a stellar job in arguing for a stiff sentence and thanked the rangers, air services and K9 units for their swift reaction in apprehending the accused and ensuring that justice is served.

The face of determination. Ed was already an anti-poaching ranger in Zimbabwe when we first began speaking. Funnily enough he was working on a reserve that I had previously been to on one of my trips to Africa. Ed wanted to improve his skills so he came to us at GGCF and with the help of a generous bloke from Sweden we were able to make this a reality and got him on the Pathfinder Level One course. Ed is now back in Zimbabwe protecting what precious wildlife they have left. If you'd like to get involved in protecting our wildlife email us at [email protected] or visit our website for more info www.gguardians.org

South African National Parks (SANParks) today announced that a suspected poacher was fatally wounded in a contact with guides from a private walking safari concession in the Kruger National Park (KNP).

The incident took place in the early hours of Friday 2 July 2021. The guides were on a guided walk with one guest when they came across a group of three suspected poachers. It has been reported that there was an exchange of gun shots and a suspected poacher was fatally wounded, a rifle, ammunition and poaching equipment were recovered not far from the contact point.

The South African Police, Ranger Services, K9 and Airwing Units are following up on the other two suspects.

Counselling has been offered to the guest and the guides as part of the debriefing session.
SANParks is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will be able to make further statements once the investigation has been completed.

Ep. 44 Geoffrey - By Travel Worth Living

In this episode I get to talk with Geoffrey, the head instructor for Tac Trac. The Tac Trac Combat Tracking initiative was started as a way to combat the onslaught of wildlife crimes committed in Africa. As an NGO, they provide training for anti-poaching rangers who are then mobilised to work in various reserves across Africa.

Geoffrey began working as a ranger at the age of 17. Since then, he’s spent years honing his tracking and anti-poaching skills, first as a ranger and now as an instructor. During our conversation we talk about the threats rangers face, how they apprehend and stop poachers, and what it takes to spend days at a time out in the field.

To listen to this episode visit https://gguardians.org/geoffrey-head-instructor-for-tac-trac/

To learn more about Tac Trac, you can visit their website here: www.tactrac.co.za

What do you think they are trying to figure out (comment your funniest caption)? There is a lot more to learn than just how to shoot a gun when you train as an anti-poaching ranger. You need to know the legal aspects to keep you on the right side of the law, safe handling and you need to know the capabilities of the fi****ms before even firing a shot. Contact us to find out how you can join up and be an anti-poaching ranger.

Our Story

Global Guardians Conservation Fund was started to get more people involved in wildlife conservation after the founder volunteered with an APU (anti-poaching unit) and saw the need for more boots on the ground in all areas of conservation. We now help people get involved in anti-poaching training to become rangers and protect our wildlife on the front line as well as other wildlife conservation efforts such as a black rhino breeding program. We are also planning to register as a charity in 2020 in order to provide more support to critical areas of conservation with your help by way of funding, equipment and key assets. We have visited and will continue to visit the conservation efforts we promote so we can give you the best first hand advice and ensure your efforts and donations are making a difference. We look forward to helping you make this world a better place.
