Discovering the Amazing Wildlife of Northeastern India
As we make our way through the lowlands of Assam, we stop at Nameri National Park for many sightings of the native wildlife. Our nature walk this morning allowed us great sightings of Indian Elephants, Red-Vented Bulbuls, Giant Indian Squirrels frolicking in a tree, nesting Golden-Fronted Leafbirds, and many more.
There are so many National Parks and Wildlife Reserves in India where you can roam on foot, by jeep, or on elephant back, enjoying the endless number of endemic and migrating species that inhabit these parks. There are almost 100 wildlife parks in India located from the far north, the deep south, as well as the eastern and western states. We have customized tours where you may visit one park for a sample of the local wildlife sightings, or you may create an animal tour where you visit four to six parks or even more, if you wish.

EXPLORING DIRANG in the foothills of the Himalaya
As we continue our journey through Arunachal Pradesh, we stop in the small town of Dirang, which is home to the Thupsung Dhargye Ling Monastery. This spectacular structure is both a temple and a learning institute for the study of Tibetan Buddhism by laypeople and monks. The name, Thupsung Dhargye Ling was given by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and means "Place of Flourishing of the Buddha's Speech."
The monastery, boasting ornate carvings and murals, is sited on modest sized grounds overlooking Dirang below. We take the morning to climb the hillside and circle the glorious building in the brilliant sunshine, admiring the fine artwork and woodwork that adorns the walls.
One or two nights is suitable for a stay in Dirang, with all tours continuing onward to Tawang for more spectacular monasteries high in the Himalayas.
