So that’s what those tattoos mean!

what sailors's tattoo do you wear
and how many had you be earned to wear
& if you have been 6 times on hawai'i,
are you officially allowed to tattoo the whole hula-dance girl-group..!??

An update for our customers...

It seems that the decision whether to run tours or not has been taken out of our hands.

The municipality has decided to shut down the local beaches in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

So... we will be hunkering down with some movies and a bottle of spiced rum until this whole thing blows over.

Stay calm, stay safe and Pura Vida.

We will see you on the flip side!

Some tours are more exciting than others... you know the exciting ones when everyone onboard spontaneously yells "WOOHOO!!!"

The travelling minstrel Mr Sheridan Malone

Today I met a travelling minstrel!

Our tour was certainly enhanced by the experience.

I wonder how hard it would be to entice him to come back and serenade me???

Thank you Sheridan!

Another beautiful day in Paradise, book your sailing tour today!

Current visible satellite image. Very little cloudiness in most of the Pacific and Central Valley, the presence of a mass of dry air, moderate trade winds will favor high temperatures throughout the weekend. Remember to protect yourself from the sun!

Living the Dream

Chris Gillard is a former Canadian entrepreneur and Volunteer Firefighter who, many years ago, was in desperate need of a break. On a whim he decided to try sailing. It was love at first tack (so-to-speak) and from that day to this day, his main goal in life was to find a way to retire to warmer climes and to spend his days on the water. Now his office has sails flapping gently overhead and a helm in his hands.

Joy Ride Sailing is the culmination of that dream, and he and his wife Joy couldn’t be happier to be living it. Joy Ride Tours are small and private and designed to introduce people to the joys of sailing, and to show them the beauty of Costa Rica from the water.

For those who love watersports, tours include a stop on the sheltered lee of Isla Herradura for snorkeling, paddleboarding or floating in the warm Pacific waters.

When they aren’t onboard the Reliant, their time is spent learning about their new home, making friends with the neighbours and working on their Spanish.
