The Cozy - In Chance Cove

Spending some time in the area? After doing the Chance Cove Costal Trail. Why not do some exploring and check out the Seaview Trail in Norman's Cove-Long Cove. I can remember my first time driving into Norman's Cove and seeing this rock formation jetting up out of the water and all it's colour. I was blown away by it's beauty and love seeing it when driving in. It is only 20 min or so down the highway from us and you will be able see this formation when you are coming into town. Or you can take a scenic drive through Bellevue and Thornlea to Norman's Cove. After hiking the trail there is a coffee/gift shop Three Jolly Fishermen down by the marina. Grab a coffee and enjoy the views! The trail takes you up on this formation and down around the other side. On a clear day this formation can also be seen from D***o.

Love these cute little mummers especially the George St Pole Dancer LOL... Found these at Made On The Rock Crafts & Gifts in Sunnyside, just a little ride up the HWY from The Cozy. They add a nice little splash of colour. They have lots of locally made items if you are looking for a little something to take home.

Loving this new stained glass piece. Made by Michael Laduke in his studio at The SeaGlass B & B and Studio Ltd. located in New Perlican NL. I love the glass that was used for the water, with it's greens and blues it looks just like the ocean on the Chance Cove Costal Trail! We just hung it today and then went to do the trail. Fittingly enough as we were walking across the beach to the trail, a whale was in the cove.

Words cannot express how much it means to me when I receive notes like this! I love my little piece of paradise in Chance Cove NL and it really means a lot to me when others love it too. I have received many kind words from people all over the world, it fills me with joy when they see the beauty of Newfoundland!

A ball of rope... is it art or a tangled mess? We would call it art, and love it! Our brother in-law recently gave this to us and my husband could not wait to hang it for people to see. This was hanging in the barn of his families homestead in Western Bay Newfoundland. Given our brother in-laws age, we are guessing it must have been hanging there for a 100 years. Haha, well maybe not that long! All the rope art you will see in the cozy was made by my husband so he was very happy to receive this gift. Now when you come visit The Cozy you will know how the rope made it's way there.

A bit of a mauzy morning in the cove and a little too wet to cut the grass. That’s ok, perfect time to have a walk, comb the beach for sea glass and listen to the waves lap up against the rocks. This is my happy place. 😃🏖️

What a beautiful long weekend. So nice to get out and enjoy some warm weather and sunshine. Beautiful Monday on the Bordeaux Trail in Arnold's Cove. Picnic at the Sea Fox a wooden boat in the beach on the trail. Sat and watched a whale swim by as we ate our lunch is it just me or do they seem early this year? Even seen a moose on the way home. If you have never hiked the Bordeaux Trail it is pretty easy with not much elevation, beautiful scenery with lots of beaches to comb. This trail is only about 20min away from The Cozy.

Low Tide

Taken in Little Harbour East. This small town located on the Placentia Bay side of the Isthumus. Just over an hour out of St. John's is a perfect place to get some photos of old Newfoundland. Stages and docks up on stilts, cod salted and hanging too dry in season, lobster traps piled up on the docks. It is the little communities off the beaten path that offer some great photography. The Isthimus has beautiful scenery, great hiking, great beaches and beautiful towns to explore. If you are looking for a place nearby to stay keep us in mind The Cozy - In Chance Cove is only 15 min away on the Trinity Bay side of the Isthumus.

Loving my new piece of rope art.

Did you know you can watch whales right from the yard of the cozy? Of course they are not there all the time. Last year it was the last few week in June and first few weeks in July. Of course there is no guarantee if and when they will come.

While out for a walk through the town on Saturday my husband and I stopped to do a little beach combing. This is something I find to be very relaxing and do it whenever we are walking by the ocean. Walking the shoreline with the fresh cool air, beautiful scenery and sounds, looking for little gems washed in by the tides. This was our finds in about a half an hour, a little bit of sea glass and a little bit of pottery and a whole lot of relaxation.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go...

The Cozy - In Chance Cove was looking all ready for Christmas this morning under a fresh blanket of snow. I always love this first good snowfall when the sun is shinning the next day just magical! Talk to me in a month or so it may be a different story LOL. But for now I will admire how beautiful Chance Cove Newfoundland looked this morning. Knowing the weather on the Avalon I don't expect it will stay long but maybe this year we will have a white Christmas.

Wow! the wild rose bush is in bloom and the fragrance is beautiful. As we acquired The Cozy in the winter this was our first time seeing the roses. We were wondering if they were going to be pink or white. This bush is about 25 feet long by about 10 feet high and 10 feet deep. We are not much of gardeners so I ask do we dare trim it? If so what would be the best time of year to do so? We sure would not want to hurt or damage this beauty!
