The prefecture of the archipelago has more of the older, traditional vibes than Tokyo but is as modern as this one and less outlandish too. For centuries, Japanese and foreigners strolled around this former imperial capital to explore its sights; not just the temples, but also the narrow lanes bordered with its typical brick where line clubs, bars, and restaurants. Never bombed during the war, Kyoto offers an intact architecture.
