🇳🇿Day 3 & 4
After an early start, we travelled the 3-hour drive to Queenstown, soaking in the picturesque views along Lindis Pass.
The very first thing we did was a jet boat ride on the Shotover River (as in, we got into Queenstown, parked, and ran straight down to get on the boat because we were running so late). 🚤
Honestly… No matter how long you think a journey will take you in NZ, allow for more time. Google maps doesn’t account for you having to drive slower in a larger camper van if it’s windy, or up hills, or to pull over and stop numerous times to admire the views!
Queenstown’s quirky charm led us to spots like Whakatipu Brewing for drinks, and up to the Skyline Queenstown with incredible views over the town and lake.
Having our daughter has never stopped us doing the things we want to do, and Bungee jumping was no exception. AJ Hackett Kawarau bridge is the world’s first bungee jump, an iconic 43-meter leap over the river! Of course she didn’t do it with us (despite her asking repeatedly), but we took it in turns to jump whilst the other watched with Adelaide from the viewing platform. She absolutely loved it; hopefully she’ll come back when’s he’s older and do it herself one day!
The next day, we drove around towards Gelnorchy, stopping at the beautiful Wilson Bay for a scenic picnic before heading around to Bob’s Cove. Highly recommend this for a nice easy nature walk, either with or without children.
