Pro tip: Veterinary emergencies while boating are no fun. Also, hourly trips off the boat for urgent puppy bathroom needs in the midst of the year's biggest thunderstorm all night long doesn't make for the wittiest Instagram captions.

But, after a day of recuperation and a trip to the emergency vet (a 3 hour round trip--thanks to the parents for the surprise use of their car) we are happy to report that both .the.cav and are on the mend and are both much happier and healthier now.

This is the ensuing carnage of a long walk in the Bear River Valley Recreation area. Boat dogs at rest.

The trip up to Petoskey started off a little bumpy and finished with a little wind during docking. The skipper was frustrated with his performance, but the first and second mate were stellar.

Naps were had, pizza and beer too. All in all, a pretty good day.
