I am so very excited about Odyssey Storytelling’s August 8 collaboration with Iskash*taa Refugee Network.

Five storytellers from around the world, who happen to be refugees and asylum seekers, will tell their stories of coming to this country. Some of the stories are harrowing, some profoundly sad. Others are funny and joyful, encompassing so much of the human experience.

I would be so honored if you could join us downtown that Thursday at The Screening Room. Tickets range from $3-$15 (and that’s a sponsorship ticket that includes admission, admission for a refugee, AND merch).

Tickets are selling fast, as both our nonprofit organizations have more than 20 years of experience building community in Southern Arizona and this promises to be a standing room only game-changing kind of show.

One more ask: please like and follow us on FB and/or IG. We could use the publicity.

Scan the QR code or visit www.OdysseyStorytelling.com for ticket info.

I'm working on a story for FST! Female StoryTellers right now and I'm finding that the crux of this particular piece is the ending ... so I visited this site. Highly recommend!

A great story ending will keep your book or movie lingering in someone’s mind for years. To master the art of ending stories, you must understand the 6 types of endings.

Hey Tucsonans!

It's been a minute, and WWW has something wonderful to share: Penelope Starr is holding another one of her powerful, moving, and *fun* SoulCollage(R) workshops for writers and other creators!

This one will be on the west side of the city on Sunday, March 20, from 1-4 p.m. (That's the vernal equinox, for those of you who aren't yet in touch with your calendrical muses!)

It's $30 which includes all materials and snacks. You gotta be fully vaxxed to join!

Let me know if you want more information. Photo by Taryn Elliott from Pexels

WWW started out as Women's Wilderness Writing Workshops in 2017 and in 2018 we decided to branch out to hosting workshops for all genders and situating them not just in the wilderness.

We try to keep workshops accessible to anyone who wants to go, including finding ADA-compliant accommodations, offering scholarships and payment plans, and keeping costs as low as possible.

Since our inception, we've hosted workshops in places like Oaxaca, the Dragoon Mountains, Tucson, and Flagstaff. Topics have included food, memoir, creative nonfiction, and more.

Upcoming, we have an August retreat in La Paz, Mexico, called "Start That Book" and a Movement, Meditation, and Writing workshop in the works in Coastal Oregon for March of 2022. We're still working on "Songwriting in Nashville" and "Backcountry Journaling in ... Somewhere!" We are so excited to be back from our hiatus!

Regarding COVID, we've decided that proof of vaccination will be required for the safety of our instructors and our participants, as well as members of the communities we travel to.

Are you ready to ? Check our website at www.wilderwriters.com to be the first to know about upcoming retreats.

During a nice Zoom social meeting today, the term “autofiction” came up. According to some, like the author of the below piece, there’s no such thing. Thoughts?

Whether writing autobiographical fiction or memoir, writers must own their truths.
