In partnership with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bangor Maine Police Department is participating in the “Drug Take Back” event happening this Friday 4/29/22, and Saturday 4/30/22.

Both events will take place off Union Street, in the Airport Mall parking lot near Hannaford. This is a free, and completely anonymous event.

The take back event runs from 7AM-5PM on Friday, and from 8AM-2PM on Saturday. Any unwanted or unneeded medications may be dropped off for disposal during these times.

Motorists can simply drive up, and hand off their medications to an officer or deputy. Walk-ups are also welcome.

For those needing a safe way to destroy sensitive documents, Maine Savings Bank has generously sponsored a record’s shredding truck. That truck will be at the event from 7am-2pm on Friday, and from 10am-2pm on Saturday. This service is also free.

The lights on the airport airfield all have a purpose and a meaning, but the lights that *don’t* work in the favor of an aircraft’s crew are those from vehicle headlights. In fact, it can take a pilot’s eyes a full 10 minutes to adjust to the lighting conditions and any changes on the ground that might occur.

Here at BGR, we have a great appreciation for our local plane spotters, and we enjoy seeing the amazing photos that you capture from outside our fence line. In the interest of safety, we respectfully ask that you please make sure that your headlights are turned off and are not aimed at the runway at any time.

Virginia Oliver was born and raised in Rockland. Since she was 8 years old she's been lobstering. At 101-years-old Oliver goes three times a week with her son.
