We are truly sad to announce today that we are forced to take “I´m King” offline. Unfortunately, we have been under multiple attacks from an un-known hacking group or individual. These attacks caused extensive damage to our database, affected overall performance, and interfered with the game play.

I´m King is a grass-roots privately funded project and due to our limited resources we will be forced to go offline while we try to fix the problem. We are proud of the impact we have achieved and hope to continue to achieve like our August (Olympia) initiative making up to 7 Million liters of clean drinking water accessible to people in Brazil. Our total impact will be up to 22 Million Liters. That is enough to supply 500 people with clean water up to 5 years.

“The top priority for those people affected by the hurricane is to give them access to clean water. That is the only way we can control cholera,” Dominique Legros, WHO cholera expert, told a news briefing before traveling to the Caribbean country.
In light of the recent surge in cases, Cholera prevention has now become the primary focus for the initial phase of our Hurricane Matthew Relief Initiative. Our water filtration system along with the hygiene education we provide during implementations is one of the best tools to combat the spread of Cholera. We are teaming up with a couple local networks in the hardest hit areas of Les Cayes and Jeremie to help mitigate the spread of this disease. Today we are finally getting accurate reports on the true impact of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. The southern coastal region is absolutely devastated. With most of the structures compromised and, more importantly, entire food and water supplies wiped out, the situation is as real as it gets. Haiti is the place that Waves For Water truly developed in, where we have done our largest scale of work. Which makes us well equipped (with very solid local teams and resources) to respond. We are launching a full scale relief initiative focused primarily on access to clean water for the hardest hit areas. Because we already have such great local networks we will also be helping to coordinate other urgently needed supplies and services (food, medical, etc). We visited the community of “Jardim Gramacho,” just 20 minutes outside of Rio’s iconic Copacabana Beach. It’s one of Rio’s poorest communities with approximately 2,000 families, living without the access to safe drinking water. Funds generated this month (August 2016) thru playing the “I’m King” app will support clean water projects throughout Brazil. If there’s one silver lining to earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters, it’s the strengthening of community. Hugo Coello (on the right, with the hair) lives in the Galapagos Islands but is from Canoa, an area that was hit hard by April’s quake.
