Today, we spent time visiting some sites in Portugal 🇵🇹
Here are some most sees 👇
#1 Baleizão, Estátua de Catarina Eufémia.
Built in 1976 this bust of revolutionary Catarina Eufémia set on top of a stone pedestal of 2 metres high.

#2 Walk down Rua Francisco Miguel Darte, and you come across this incredible mural of Catarina from 2015. It reads:
Communist woman
Symbol of the emancipated struggle

#3 Headstone in memory of Catarina continues on your walk out of town.
It reads:
IN MEMORY OF CATARINA EUFEMIA
AND OF ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO FOUGHT AGAINST CAPITALISM AND FASCISM.
NEITHER FORGETFULNESS, NOR FORGIVENESS

#4 Turn right down CM 1032, Monumento a Catarina Eufémia marks where she was murdered by the fascists on 19 May 1954.
Catarina was an agricultural worker, who led a strike before she was killed at the age of 26, leaving three children behind.

#5 Driving out of Baleizão towards the town of Serpa, which hosts roads name after a few Reds 🫡.
