Dashain is a vibrant and significant festival in Nepal, celebrated with immense enthusiasm. Lasting for 15 days, it symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. The festival concludes with Vijayadashami, marking the victory of the goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura.

During Dashain, families come together, elders bless the younger ones, and the exchange of tika (a mixture of yogurt, rice, and vermillion) and jamara (barley sprouts) takes place, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. Homes are cleaned and decorated, and people engage in feasts and cultural activities.

Vijayadashami, the tenth day, is particularly auspicious. It's believed that starting new ventures or receiving tika on this day brings added blessings. The day is also significant for students, as it's considered propitious to initiate or resume education.
