Some facts about Munnar.

Munnar came to be known to the outside world in the 1870s with the visit of the British Resident of the then Travancore kingdom John Daniel Munro. Munro, who visited the place as part of settling the border dispute between Travancore and the nearby state of Madras literally fell for the beauty of the region.

The monastery is currently the largest in Sikkim. It is home to the community of monks and where they perform the rituals and practices of the Karma Kagyu lineage. A golden stupa contains the relics of the 16th Karmapa. Opposite that building is a college, Karma Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies.

📍 HORNBILL FESTIVAL

Of the numerous tribal festivals in India, one which has made its mark on an international scale is the Nagaland’s’ Hornbill Festival. Nagaland comprises of 16 unique tribes. Hornbill Festival was started as an effort by Nagaland State Tourism and Art & Culture Departmentsto being together the diverse tribes. The effort has now resulted in a global scenario where traditional music &dance, arts and activities are thriving. Also a Rock Music Festival is organized which brings crowds from all over the world.

Umngot River, possibly India’s cleanest river, flows through Dawki, a small but busy town in the East Jaintia Hills district near the Indo-Bangladesh border, In Meghalaya, India. Dawki serves as a busy trade route between India and Bangladesh where hundreds of trucks pass every day.

Tumling is a small hamlet in Jogmai VDC, Ilam District of Nepal. A tourist attraction in Eastern Himalayas at an altitude of 2970m(10,000 ft),[1] its population is composed mostly of Gurung families, with the total population being a mere 15 in number. It is roughly 35 minutes' walk from Meghma and close to Darjeeling. Only vehicle going to Tumling is the old Landrover from Manebhanjan. Lodging in this hamlet consists of mainly the Mountain Lodge, which has views of the Kanchenzunga seen from its room.

Meghalaya 4D/3N Itinerary

Day 01: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG (100km/ 3 hrs)
 Guwahati arrival, greet by our representative at the airport/rail station. Proceed to Shillong, it is also called 'Scotland of the East".
 Visit: Umium lake, Cathedral Church and Polo ground,
 Evening Shopping in Police Bazaar.
 Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02: SHILLONG – MAWLYNNONG – DAWKI – SHILLONG
 Post breakfast visit Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in Asia. It is situated 90 Km. From Shillong and besides the picturesque village, offers many interesting sights such as the living Root Bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. It is along the Indo-Bangladesh border. This cute and colorful little village is known for its cleanliness. After Mawlynnong sight-seeing, you can also visit Dawki.
 Overnight stay.
 Post breakfast, proceed to Cherrapunjee sightseeing.
 Cherrapunjee is the wettest place in the world. There are lots of spectacular view points on
the way to Cherrapunjee.
 On the way to Shillong, visit Elephant falls.

Dawki-Tamabil is one of
transportation to Bangladesh. Dawki Bridge is a suspension bridge over the Umngot River. It was
constructed in 1932 by the British. The Umngot River, the Dawki Bridge and the Bangladesh
border is the main tourist attraction. Later travel to Shillong
DAY 03: SHILLONG - CHERRAPUNJEE - SHILLONG
 Some of the Main Attractions of Cherrapunjee are the Cherrapunjee view point, Mawsmai Cave,
Nohkalikai Falls, Seven sister falls and Eco Park etc. After sight-seeing back to Shillong.
 Overnight stay.
Day 04: SHILLONG – GUWAHATI
 Post breakfast; visit Lady Hydari Park, Ward’s Lake and Donbosco Museum. Later travel to
Guwahati, and airport/rail station drop; and end the tour with sweet memories
