Andy Griffith Museum
The Andy Griffith Museum is a place both for learning about and celebrating Andy Griffith, who was born in Mount Airy in 1926. Home of the single largest collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to Andy Griffith, the museum features hundreds of items from Andy’s life and his career in theater, film, and music. Highlights of the collection include actual props, wardrobe, and other artifacts from The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock that were donated by Cindi and Andy Griffith, members of the casts and crews, and other individuals and organizations.

In 2023, Autumn Leaves Festival will take place from Friday, October 13 to Sunday, October 15.

The world's largest granite quarry is found in Mount Airy, North Carolina, U.S.A.
North Carolina Granite Corporation Quarry Complex is a historic granite quarry and national historic district located at Mount Airy, Surry County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 22 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 8 contributing structures in an area approximately one mile long and 1/3 mile wide and is easily viewed by NASA from space satellites. The granite goes about 6,000-8,000 feet deep and there is enough granite to mine for another 500-600 years!
Granite from the quarry was used to build the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, the Arlington Memorial Bridge in Washington, the Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kitty Hawk, and the Albert Einstein Memorial in Washington, plus many other places.
