“Just Nuisance” was a beloved member of the Royal Navy based at Simons Town 1939-1944. The Great Dane also became a South African household name through a fun family movie by the same name in 1991. His statue sits in a beautiful plaza that boasts vendors and cute stores across the road.

“Wag ‘n bietjie: We remember the families forcefully removed from Seaforth, September 1968”

The Deep South is filled with so much beauty and history, both good and bad. We cannot fully appreciate all it has to offer without acknowledging those who paid a price for the privilege of others.

This plaque is in memorial to Black and Coloured communities forcibly removed from areas that were then given to white people during Apartheid. Seaforth Beach is one example, and we will never forget.
