Dreamy Cortina d’Ampezzo is the perfect jumping-off point for all manner of hikes in the Dolomites region. While it definitely gets busy, the town doesn’t feel like a tourist trap, and the surrounding mountains are too picturesque for words. Check out our tips for Cortina in our Dolomites guide.

Cadini di Misurina (Free version) | 14 km | Moderate to strenuous: The easiest way to get to some of the most gorgeous peaks on earth, the Cadini di Misurina, is to park at the Rifugio Auronzo lot, the jumping-off point for the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Parking here costs 30€, so we were eager to find an alternative. While this hike is certainly tough, it's 100% worth it! Check out our Dolomites Hiking Guide for more info 🥾🏔️🤩

Croda da Lago | 15 km | Moderate to strenuous: Not nearly as crowded as other trails in the area, Croda da Lago gives you great effort-to-views ratio and is a gorgeous introduction to the region. While physically and technically challenging, it's a great length and includes a mountain lake, grassy alpine meadows, boulder scramble, and swoony wraparound views of the Dolomites. Check out our Dolomites Hiking Guide for more info!

Winter in the Cyclades? Sign us up! Athens is an absolutely one-of-a-kind place. Brimming with culture, museums, music, restaurants, bars, and that sense of open-armed welcome you only really get in Greece, it’s definitely a place to prioritize visiting in your lifetime 🏛️🧿🇬🇷 Fans of classical antiquity will have ample things to drool over, but the city is charming even for the most difficult to impress.

The Acropolis complex is the centerpiece of Athens and definitely one of the most immediately-recognizable things in the world 🏛️ As such, it is easily the most-visited (and most touristy) part of the city 🧿

While it’s an absolutely breathtaking and possibly even life-changing experience, expect crowds year-round, especially around the middle of the day 🇬🇷 For a smooth visit, get there right at opening time! We arrived at 730 for an 8am open and had the place to ourselves 😉

Back in town for the best day of the year… Amsterdam Pride 🏳️‍🌈 Unlike other places, Pride is held in August in Amsterdam, with an iconic canal parade along the Prinsengracht and the whole city decked out to support and celebrate. We loved getting to tour the Villa et Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild in beautiful Cap-Ferrat. A bit of a “girl boss” before her time, owner Béatrice de Rothschild was a divorcée heiress who gambled in Monaco, had a menagerie of intriguing pets, and kept her own horse-racing stables🐴

The Villa is frothy and whimsical with its vibrant pink exterior, and the 9 themed gardens (each with different exotic plants and wraparound views of nearby Beaulieu-Sur-Mer) can’t be missed 🌊 Even if you’re not a big period pieces fan, check out the astounding furniture acquisitions, many of which are surviving pieces from the court of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, whose contemporaries all burned in the French Revolution 🇫🇷

Beaulieu-Sur-Mer 🌊 is where beachy dreams come true! A seaside stroll along the Promenade Maurice Rouvier takes you from opulent Villa Kérylos to Port St. Jean in swoon-worthy Cap-Ferrat, and don’t miss a slight detour to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild as you explore! (But more on that later 😉)

Cap-Ferrat is much quieter than the other Riviera towns, and is a gorgeous and sunny breath of fresh air on any trip to the area 🏖

Next up on this whirlwind tour of the French Riviera is Grasse, known as the perfume capital of the world 💅 Located in the hills above Cannes, it’s cute as a button, with a distinctly different vibe to the beachfront towns ⛰

Iconic parfumerie Fragonard is from here, and a free tour of their factory is a must-see. There are also a few free museums worth visiting, including an art museum showcasing the works of native son Jean-Honoré Fragonard (the parfumerie is named for his father), as well as Musée d’Art et d’Histoire. If you’d like to make your own perfume, you can do so at Fragonard if you book well in advance 🤩

We were absolutely enchanted by Antibes 🤩 Slightly more bohemian and “shabby-chic” than neighboring Cannes, Antibes and nearby Juan/Les-Pins are gorgeous, relaxed, and utterly charming ☀️ Jazz Age fans may recognize Antibes as the place where F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote his last novel, “Tender is the Night” 🌙 He called Antibes “a playground for the world”, and he’s not wrong there! 🏖

Trekking downhill about an hour from hilltop beauty Èze, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping vistas of the surrounding French Riviera and grandiose rock formations ⛰ And at the bottom lies Èze-Sur-Mer, our favorite beach on the Côte d’Azur! 🏖 Featuring secret cove vibes and way less people than the more popular spots like Villefranche-Sur-Mer, it’s a must-see ☀️

Sorry we’ve been a bit MIA lately, we’ve had a busy few months 😅 Wanted to say hello from the gorgeous Côte d’Azur, specifically the medieval hilltop town of Èze 🇫🇷 With amazingly well-preserved architecture, swoon-worthy views, and a bit of hiking, Èze is a total dream come true. Stay tuned for more Riviera content coming your way these next few days! 🏖

Haarlem is cute-as-a-button, historic, and easy to get to– you may never want to leave! 🇳🇱 It still has the canals and gorgeous architecture associated with Amsterdam, but with far fewer tourists and a more laid-back vibe ✌️Dating back to 1245, Haarlem is an excellent example of a Dutch medieval city, and most of the period gabled houses and cobblestoned streets in the city center remain intact to this day. The best part? It’s only 15 minutes away by train from Amsterdam, the perfect day trip 🌷Check out our guide here: https://whynotwalk.com/haarlem/

The Hague (or Den Haag) is absolutely packed with museums, embassies, and culture, and also serves as the seat of Dutch parliament, the residence of the Dutch royal family, and the HQ of the UN’s International Criminal Court 🌷With so much to see and do, we can’t believe people think it’s boring! 🇳🇱

Our first Koningsdag (King’s Day) in Amsterdam was a success! 🌷 Every April 27, the Netherlands comes together to celebrate the birthday of King Willem-Alexander 👑 There is music, boat parties, and flea markets called “kleedjesmarkts.” It’s a great vibe, like a massive block party! And of course, don’t forget to wear lots of orange! 🇳🇱
