SIKHS VS HINDUS IN CANADA. MATTERS ARISING 🤧 🤺⚔️
Three individuals have been charged following violent confrontations between groups of protesters during a series of demonstrations in Brampton and Mississauga on Sunday, which included incidents outside a Hindu temple and a Sikh gurdwara, according to Peel police.
The individuals charged and the respective allegations against them are as follows:
A 23-year-old male from Brampton, charged with assault with a weapon.
A 31-year-old male from Mississauga, charged with mischief exceeding $5,000.
A 43-year-old male from Mississauga, charged with causing a disturbance and assaulting a peace officer.
In a statement released on Monday, Peel police indicated that a fourth individual was apprehended on an unrelated outstanding warrant and subsequently released. Additionally, a police officer received treatment for minor injuries at a hospital, as noted in the release.
The violence reportedly began at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, where officials from the Indian consulate were present. Police were called to the scene around noon on Sunday.
