Lets hope this year our world leaders get it done.

This is what leadership looks like.

Last year, China and the US made major commitments to cut carbon pollution and limit emissions, along with many other countries.

The world is moving. Who do you think will be the next country to make a major climate commitment?

We have had an amazing start to our tour season in the Great Bear Rainforest. This wonderful Spirit Bear came right up to our group and happily fished just meters away. Such an amazing experience.

Based on evidence from past oil spills, such as the Exxon Valdez spill of 1989, we know that we would never be able to completely clean up an oil spill in the pristine waters of the Great Bear Rainforest. First Nations and ENGOs need your help to pressure the Canadian federal government to put a stop to the pipeline.

British Columbia's First Nations have fought the proposed Northern Gateway oil sands pipeline that would cross their land for years, and they have no intention of letting up just because the federal government recently approved it.

Celebrate World Ranger Day by supporting The Thin Green Line. In the past 10 years alone it's estimated that over 1000 park rangers have been killed, 80% of them by commercial poachers and armed militia groups. The Thin Green Line provides park rangers with essential anti-poaching equipment and training to assist them in patrolling on the front-line of conservation.

Unfortunately Australia has ignored the global trend and repealed its carbon tax laws. A renewable energy target remains, and it is hoped that emissions trading discussions will continue, but for now Australia is without a credible climate policy.

The project, which would send oil from Alberta to Asia, faces stiff opposition from aboriginal groups, environmentalists and community advocates.

Take a moment today to appreciate our little blue planet.

We should really celebrate our small blue planet and all it provides every day, but recent events give us particular cause to reflect on our home and how we’re treating it.

Jane Goodall shares her thoughts on how she is appalled by the BC Trophy Hunt. Take action today and directly contact your BC government representative, and tell them we cannot tolerate this offensive action against BC's beautiful bears.

Jane Goodall is appalled by the BC Trophy Hunt in an interview with Pacific Wild.

Global sanctuary in the Arctic? Yep we'll stand up for that.

Sign the petition to join the millions who believe in protecting the Arctic. We want to create a global sanctuary around the North Pole, and ban offshore drilling and destructive industry in the Arctic.

Japan has agreed to accept the ban on whaling in Antarctica. Thank you Japan for respecting the decision. Change is never easier, but this is the right decision for the future of our planet.

The UN's International Court of Justice rules that Japan must temporarily halt its whaling programme in the Antarctic.

We need your help to tell the BC Government that Bill 4 (the Park Amendment Act) is unacceptable. This legislation opens the door to pipelines, oil and gas drilling and industrial activities in BC's protected areas. Previously, a park use permit could only be issued if the applicant could prove that the activity was “necessary for the preservation or maintenance of the recreational values of the park involved.” Bill 4 removes this safeguard, and allows permits to be granted if the research activity relates to “an environmental assessment or a feasibility study,” or is “necessary to inform decision making around changing the boundaries.” Protected areas are supposed to be protected and should not be open to industrial exploration. Boundaries of these areas should be defined with consideration of ensuring a comprehensive, representative and adequate protected area network, and not to accommodate industrial activity.

Take action by joining the Forest Ethics Twitter thunderclap on Wednesday, April 2 at 3pm PST. Check out this Forest Ethics link for more details. You can also sign the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society online petition: http://org.salsalabs.com/o/2463/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=15093

Good news is there's something quick 'n easy you can do about it.

MASSIVE VICTORY!!! Japan can no longer conduct whaling in the Antarctic. Thank you to Australia for leading the legal challenge, to Sea Shepherd for fighting at the front, and to the judges of the International Court of Justice for finally banning Japan's Antarctic whaling program. This is a really wonderful outcome. Japan - the world has spoken and now it's time to respect the rule of international law. Antarctic is a whaling free zone.

The International Court of Justice has upheld Australia's bid to ban Japan's Antarctic whaling program.

A law was just passed that gives oil, gas and mining companies the power to open up BC’s provincial parks for industrial activity. Resource companies will now be able to drill exploratory wells, build roads and dig giant test pits, all in the name of pipeline and transmission line “research”. Protect these pristine parks by signing this petition to repeal the BC Parks Amendment Act. Take a stand today.

I know this much -- Big Oil and provincial parks don't mix.
