Creating Memories, One Trip at a Time 🇮🇸

Andrew and his family recently returned from a 3 night trip to Iceland. They did a Northern Lights cruise, visited the Golden Circle in a super jeep, and relaxed at the Sky Lagoon.

Last year, I created a 3 week itinerary around Australia for them, and I'm currently working on next year's big adventure - a trip to Japan!

I'm so grateful that they keep coming back to me, and I'm very jealous of their amazing trips!!

One year ago today, I jetted off to Mauritius with a group of Travel Counsellors to visit the Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels

This trip was a dream come true, and staying at the beautiful Beachcomber properties gave us the perfect base to explore the island. From feeding giant tortoises to swimming with dolphins in open waters, every day was an adventure!

Claire in Corsica

A few weeks ago, I spent the day in Ajaccio. It was one of the stops on the Virgin Voyages cruise I was on.

Ajaccio is the capital of Corsica. It's best known as the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. You can visit his family home, Maison Bonaparte, along with other spots that celebrate his legacy.

I loved Ajaccio. There were some great markets selling local foods and crafts. It had the perfect mix of history and coastal charm. The sea was so clear and there were some lovely cafes, €1.50 for an espresso - bargain!!

I'd definitely like to explore more of Corsica.

3 years of doing what I love

Today marks 3 incredible years since I took the leap and launched my business with Travel Counsellors!

Leaving behind a stable job in my 30s to pursue my passion was both exciting and terrifying—but it has been the most rewarding decision I've ever made.

Northern Lights ✅️

Seeing the Northern Lights had been on my list for as long as I can remember, and in February, I saw them for the first time!

On the first night of our trip, we were both really tired, so we were going to go to bed. I saw on the Northern Lights tracker app that they were active, so at 11pm, we put on our snowsuits and boots and headed out.

That was the only time they were visible during our 4 night trip. Some of the group missed them because they had an early night, so we were really lucky.

I was lucky again in May when they appeared right above my house! (Last 2 pics).

The trip that made me fall in love with travel 🌸🐘

📍 Thailand

I had been on lots of holidays before, but my first trip to Thailand genuinely changed my life.

I planned a 3 week itinerary, stayed in 7 different places, plus one night on a sleeper train. I snorkelled with whale sharks, had a whole island to myself for the afternoon, kayaked through mangroves, and stayed in some amazing hotels/villas. I loved it so much that I went back again a few months later and explored some more!

Thailand will always have my heart 💕

Lapland for grown-ups ❄️

I absolutely loved my trip to Finland earlier in the year. I'd never been on a 'cold' holiday before, but I'd definitely do it again. And, I saw the Northern Lights, which had been on my bucket list forever!

The trip I went on was 4 nights and included:

▪️Northern Lights Snowmobile Safari
▪️Three Borders Snowmobile Safari
▪️Sami Reindeer Experience
▪️Northern Lights Trek (this has been replaced with Arctic Ice Fishing by Snowmobile (4 night trips only)

The trip also includes full-board accommodation, the use of thermal suits and boots, return flights with 18kg luggage, regional departures, and in resort airport transfers.

The accommodation was so nice, and the food was great too. There is an ice hole in the lake, which I went in twice! There's also a sauna and whirlpool bath to use, these are at an additional cost.
The trip was a perfect balance of activities and downtime.

If you'd like to book this trip, there are various dates available in December 2024 and January and February 2025 for 3 and 4 night stays.

This is an adult-based tour only suitable for those aged 17 or above.

Where calm Bosphorus waters meet relaxed luxury and sophisticated design..

During my recent visit to Istanbul, I did a hotel inspection at the stunning Six Senses Kocataş Mansions.

This 5-star property is made up of two restored Ottoman-era mansions, Kocatas Mansion, and Sait Pasa Mansion, and it has beautiful views over the Bosphorus Strait. There are 43 generously-sized guest rooms and suites.

The grounds are stunning, and you can enjoy Italian, fine dining, and a selection of Turkish delicacies at the different eateries.

There is a spa offering various treatments, a gym, and an indoor and outdoor pool.

The hotel also offers sustainability workshops where you can make soaps, lip balms, candles, etc.

I absolutely loved the decor and the relaxing vibe at this hotel. It was so peaceful.

Istanbul continued 🧿🇹🇷

This is what I got up to during the rest of my time in Istanbul – better late than never!

The first day, I had only seen the outside of the Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), so I visited the inside. I recommend going later in the day as it tends to be quieter. The mosque closes for prayer, but you can join the queue to enter during prayer so you’re at the front when it opens again, as the queue can get quite big.
Everyone is required to wear clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. Women must also cover their head – scarves are provided at the entrance.

The Grand Bazaar is a 10/15 min walk from Sultanahmet Mosque and something you must experience. I loved the hustle and bustle, and there are some great bargains to be had!

One evening, I headed down to the waterfront to watch the fishermen and then walked across Galata Bridge to the Asian side and to see Galata Tower. Halfway across the bridge, I stopped to watch the sunset.

Overall, I loved Istanbul. I spent most of my time there on the European side but would love to go back and explore the Asian side more.

I would recommend a minimum of 3 nights.

I’ve been asked if I felt safe in Istanbul, and I did. I went with a friend but did spend one of the days/evenings exploring the city by myself.

The public transport is great, and cheap! Uber is also a reasonably cheap way of getting around.

I went in May, and it was the perfect weather for exploring – not too hot during the day, and a little cooler in the evening.

The free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) has been replaced with the new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). If your EHIC is in date, it can still be used.

The cards get you free or discounted medical care in all EU countries but are NOT a substitute for travel insurance.

You can apply for a new card up to 9 months before your current card expires.

Valiant Lady ❤️ I have had the BEST week on Valiant Lady. This was my first ever cruise and I was pretty sure cruising wasn't for me, but how wrong I was!
