✈️🧳 When packing for a multi-week, country, and city trip, I like to pack as minimal as possible. I start with the essentials and assemble about 7 complete outfits. Halfway through the trip I make sure there is laundry services where we’re staying or near by. This allows me to pack for 7 days, do laundry, and have fresh clothes for the last half of the trip. I try to assemble outfits that can be mix and matched as to not repeat the same outfits twice (solid colors are your friend).
For my upcoming trip to India and Sri Lanka, we will be visiting 3 countries and a total of 8 cities. Because we will be moving around a lot and taking different modes of transportation (bus, taxi, autos, trains, planes), I chose The North Face Base Camp Voyager Travel Pack 35L, which packs like a carry-on and carries like a backpack. For some airlines, it can count as your personal item and stowed underneath your chair (tight fit on the discount airlines). Paired with 2 Cotopaxi packing cubes, I was able to fit 16 tops and 12 pants (the roll-up method works best for me). In the front pockets of the pack, I put my extra pair of sandals and my smaller undergarment packing cube. My “personal item” will contain my personal documents, toiletries, travel pillow, sunglasses, electronics, jewelry, and rain jacket.
Packing light for your trip not only lightens your load but also offers greater mobility, flexibility, and freedom to explore without the burden of excessive baggage or fear of lost baggage.
