Where Should I Relocate to: Canada or UK?

Hello friend,

Good to be with you again today.

if there is a question i have gotten a lot in recent times, it is about which one is better between Canada and the UK for relocation purpose.

It’s actually a very interesting one and I will tell you my opinion based on what I have gathered from friends and families living in both countries.

To start with, both countries are great countries. As a matter of fact, they are both members of G7 and G20.

While UK is in Europe, Canada is in North America.

If you are not a cold weather friendly person, then the UK may be a favourite spot for you (though it gets cold too there in winter but not as much as it could get in some parts of Canada).

In terms of the ease of settling down faster and getting a job plus becoming a permanent resident and citizen, Canada ranks better and higher than most countries in the world including the UK.

In terms of the ease of getting a visa, I will say it all depends on the type of visa you are applying for. Prior to Brexit and COVID, it wasn’t that easy getting a study visa to the UK but that has changed a bit now since it is obvious that the UK needs money from international students to stay afloat and to sustain their economy after COVID.

Canada on the other hand has always build itself with Immigration. You can’t separate Canada from Immigration. Hence a system has been built over the years for the various types of visas including the study permit for international students. Hence there are specific ways to approach studying in Canada.

If you don’t follow the laid down process, then your visa may be denied. Unfortunately anyone who got denied in Canada but got approved in the UK might think it is easier to enter the UK as compared to Canada but it all depends on the way we see it.

I still have much more to tell you about these 2 countries.

The UK gives the Global Talent visa to highly talented and promising individuals in the specific areas
They are
* Science
* Research
* Digital technology
* Arts and culture, including film and television, fashion design and architecture
* Engineering
* Humanities
* Medicine
you don’t need a job offer or a sponsor to get the Global Talent Visa. The visa gives 3-5 years stay. You can extend at 3 yrs and after 5 years, you apply for your permanent stay and later citizenship. You can relocate with your family.
It’s the most flexible visa for skilled persons, cheaper and faster to get. You can switch to any job unlike other visa types.
But the catch is that you have to be considered Talented or Promising by the UK gov.

The application process for the Global Talent visa is in two stages, unless you have a prize/award as recognized by Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes. If so, then you don’t need endorsement. Just apply for visa.
But if you have no prize or award, then you apply to be endorsed by an approved body. Only with endorsement can you proceed to apply for the actual visa from the Home Office. before you say you don't qualify, please finish this post first and go through every link shared here. YOU MAY JUST BE QUALIFIED!
Total visa fees is 652 pounds
The endorsement process is less than 4 weeks. It takes about 8 weeks for visa decision.
There are four routes to endorsement applicable to different roles:
* Peer review – You will need to be endorsed by The British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering or The Royal Society.
* Senior appointments – This applies to endorsement for applicants with a job offer as a professor, associate professor, reader, senior group leader or equivalent at any UK higher education institution or eligible research institute, by the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and The Royal Society.
* Fellowships – endorsement for those with an individual fellowship (either current or held within the last 12 months), on the list approved by The British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering and Royal Society.
* Endorsed funders – a new visa route for researchers who make critical contributions to work supported by grant funding from a recognised funder. Qualifying applicants will be fast tracked to the Home Office visa application stage with minimal evidential requirements, where they meet the individual eligibility criteria. UKRI will be responsible for assessing endorsed funded applications.

Global Talent visa requirements
The endorsement application has to satisfy the validity requirements. This includes ensuring you complete the correct application form(s), pay the correct endorsement fee and endorsement must have been secured from the relevant body in the relevant professional field.
You then need to ensure the visa application is also valid.
To be granted a Global Talent visa, you have to meet the suitability requirements, and not be liable for grounds for refusal by being in breach of immigration laws or on immigration bail.
You will also have to show you meet the eligibility requirements, i.e. you will either already be internationally recognised at the highest level as a leader in your particular field or have already demonstrated exceptional promise and are likely to become leaders in your particular field.
Finally, you will have to prove you have attained the required 70 points.
If you cannot apply for yourself , consider contacting these companies to help. They could be expensive and may or may not succeed . Research properly for reviews about a company before you hire them.
