Home Schooled Hound offers dog training in a way that's convenient, affordable and fun! Our goal is to help you deepen your bond with your dog, and there's no better way to do that than through positive reinforcement training. Each course is tailored to you and your dog's needs, so the trainer will go at your dog's pace. Your dog is the only student in the class, which means you get the instructor
's undivided attention. Essentially, you are getting private training at a group class cost. No need to worry about loading your dog up in the car to drive to each class for weeks on end, you can meet with your instructor through we**am and train right in front of the camera! Your trainer will help walk you through every step of the training and set up your training plan for the week. Aside from the weekly meetings through we**am, you will have the ability to email your instructor with any questions that arise during the week so your training stays on track until your next session. You will learn the skills you need to become your dog's trainer, so you will know how to handle behavior challenges that might occur in the future or with future dogs. Worried that your dog won't get enough socialization if he doesn't learn in a group setting? Your instructor will advise you on how best to add socialization and distraction to your training. Every dog is different and needs a tailored socialization plan so your dog won't be overwhelmed. Rushing to socialize and pushing your dog's limits can lead your dog to end up with more behavior problems. That's the beauty of the design of these classes-- they are focused on your dog's individual needs so he or she gets the best training experience possible. We often start teaching stay in the sit position because “sit” is typically the first behavior we teach our dogs. However, dogs are more comfortable staying in a down position because it’s naturally a position they stay in for longer periods of time. Plus, it has the added benefit of being harder to spring up from than a sitting position. Happy training! 🐶

At Home Schooled Hound, our focus has always been to provide the most scientific and effective training methods to our clients. During this global crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are continuing to provide private training sessions to our clients. However, due to the government mandated quarantine, we are currently only conducting these sessions through video chat. We have always provided this mode of instruction for clients who preferred it, and it has been a highly effective and convenient way for clients to receive the instruction and feedback they need. Rest assured that if you are unfamiliar with how this technology works, you will be assisted step by step by our instructor.
While many of us are spending more time at home with our dogs, you may be made aware of behavior issues that weren’t as obvious previously. We are here to help you work through these behavior challenges. We are also here to combat any quarantine boredom with fun trick training to pass the time, to provide mental enrichment for your dog, and to increase the human-animal bond. We called our business “Home Schooled Hound” for a reason, because our approach has always been to provide instruction in a way that empowers pet parents to be able to continue the lessons they learn at home. Now more than ever, we realize the importance of this and will continually strive to make dog training accessible, effective, and convenient for all our clients.
