This two-piece sculpture is a phenomenal work of art, located about 300 kms north of Gros Morne National Park. It really needs to be experienced in person. Why trek north on the Viking Trail this summer to L'Anse aux Meadows and see it up close?
In honour of International Sculpture Day, we’re highlighting the Meeting of Two Worlds Sculpture that can be found at L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site.
This unique work of art is a collaboration by sculptors Richard Brixel of Sweden, and Newfoundland-based Luben Boykov. It commemorates the circumnavigation of the globe, when east met west for the first time.
While many are quick to identify the Viking ship, some of the other symbols and images can be more elusive. What do you see? Perhaps you’ll have to come see it in person to learn more!
