Dive and snorkel responsibly with these essential tips! 🌊🐠

Do’s:
* Respect Marine Life: Observe from a distance; avoid touching or chasing creatures to minimize stress on them.
* Practice Buoyancy Control: Master your buoyancy to prevent damaging fragile coral reefs.
* Use Eco-Friendly Sunscreen: Choose reef-safe products to protect marine ecosystems.
* Follow Local Regulations: Familiarize yourself with rules that protect local wildlife and habitats.
* Stay on Designated Paths: Help preserve sensitive areas by sticking to marked routes.

Don’ts:
* Don’t Collect Souvenirs: Resist the urge to take shells or coral; leave nature as you found it.
* Avoid Disturbing the Environment: Don’t stand on or touch the sea floor; it can lead to irreversible damage.

August in Paris: An Unforgettable Adventure! 🇫🇷✨

Are you ready to fall head over heels for the City of Love this summer? Paris in August is a dream come true, but let us guide you through this magical experience. Here are some essential tips and insights for your Parisian escapade:

1️⃣ Weather Alert: The Parisian sun shines brightly in August, so pack your shades and sunscreen. However, be prepared for occasional showers and keep a light umbrella handy!

2️⃣ Plan Ahead: Paris is a popular destination during this month, so plan your itinerary and book tickets in advance to avoid long queues at famous landmark

3️⃣ Embrace the Laid-Back Vibes: Parisians cherish their holidays, and many local businesses may close for their annual summer break. Take it as an opportunity to explore charming neighborhoods, discover hidden gems, and experience a more relaxed side of the city.

4️⃣ Don't Miss Open-Air Delights: August in Paris is synonymous with open-air festivals, concerts, and cultural events. Attend the Cinema en Plein Air screenings for a memorable evening under the stars.

5️⃣ Savour the Flavors: Treat your taste buds to the best of French cuisine! Relish an outdoor picnic in picturesque parks like Jardin du Luxembourg or savor refreshing treats like macarons and artisanal ice cream from local patisseries.

6️⃣ Take Strolls Along the Seine: With longer daylight hours, leisurely walks along the Seine River become even more captivating. And don't miss the Paris Plage (beach)!

7️⃣ Be Respectful: As always, respect French culture and traditions. Dress conservatively when visiting churches, greet locals with a friendly "Bonjour," and adapt to the relaxed pace of life during the summer season.

A last word of caution, be prepared that most places in Paris are very crowded during August, tickets for museums and events sell out quickly, and accommodations are priciest.

Bon Voyage!

Looking for the best time to book your next international or domestic flight? Travel experts have identified the Goldilocks window for you!

If you're traveling from the U.S., we recommend booking international flights between 3-5 months in advance for the best deals. Domestic flights should be booked 1-3 months in advance.

For those traveling from Europe, the ideal time to book international flights is 2-4 months ahead of your departure date, while "domestic" flights should be booked 1-2 months in advance.

Keep in mind that these windows may vary depending on your specific destination and the time of year you plan to travel.

The Goldilocks window is nearing its end soon for summer travel, but the shoulder season is right around the corner! We are always here to help you find the best deals and plan your next adventure!

One of our travel wish list experiences is visiting the “snow monkeys” in Jigokudani Monkey Park, Nagano, Japan. Have you heard of the snow monkeys or even seen them?

You might be wondering, what’s so special about these monkeys. Well, they’re not just super cute and hang out in their natural environment - the forests of the Jigokudani valley in Yamanouchi, they also love to soak in the natural hot springs there. Just a few minutes from the entrance visitors will find a man-made pool where the monkeys gather and bathe. But it’s likely to see monkeys already on the short walk to the pool! 🐒🫧

The snow monkeys are accustomed to humans and can be observed close-up and the monkeys are not bothered by visitors. Of course, it is prohibited to touch or feed the monkeys.

You can visit the Jigokudani Monkey Park (地獄谷野猿公苑, Jigokudani Yaen Kōen) and see the wild monkeys there. The park is not far from the towns Shibu and Yudanaka, which are famous for their onsen (traditional inns by hot springs with bathing facilities).

The park is open all year round, but the best and particularly photogenic time is when the park is covered in snow. It usually snows in this region from December to March, and the best time for to visit is January/February. So, if you’re looking for a great last-minute experience, get in touch and we can help you plan your extraordinary Japan vacation. The country only recently opened its borders and it’s likely to find as few tourists as possible at the attractions right now.

Obsessed with the tv show “White Lotus” and can’t get enough of the beautiful filming locations? You and me both!

We have all the locations around Sicily where the second season of the hit show was filmed. You might be surprised to hear that the hotel and beach are quite far away from each other!

📍The “White Lotus” Hotel: San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily, Italy.
This Four Seasons Hotel is the perfect backdrop for the thrilling season 2 of the show with its stunning infinity pool, historic architecture, and lush gardens. 111 rooms, including suites with water or volcano views, private terraces, and a plunge pool. ⛱

📍The “hotel beach” is actually in Cefalù and not Spiaggia di Isola Bella. Cefalù is on the other side of the island! Isola Bella is featured in the last episode though.

📍In the third episode, Daphne (Meghann Fahy) and Harper (Aubrey Plaza) go on a girls’ trip to Noto “Sicily’s hidden gem” and stay at a Villa. The Villa Tasca is actually in Palermo and you can book a stay or just visit its park.

📍In episode five Daphne, Cameron, Harper, and Ethan visit the Planeta Sciaranuova Winery. The winery is located at the base of Mount Etna in Castiglione di Sicilia.

📍Castello degli Schiavi, in the coastal town of Fiumefreddo - the villa where “The Godfather” was filmed and which the Di Grassos visit with Portia.

📍Villa Elena, the palazzo owned by Quentin, is a 17th-century former monastery in Noto, owned by interior designer Jacques Garcia.

📍Massimo Theatre in Palermo where Tanya and Quentin see the opera “Madame Butterfly”.

📍Old town Palermo - nightlife (Jack and Portia) and some other scenes.

📍Greek Theatre of Taormina visited by the Di Grassos and Portia.

📍Volcano Etna (for a dramatic background)

📍Not in Sicily but honorable mention: La Cambusa beach restaurant, Giardini, Naxos, Greece.

October is shoulder season in Italy and we just got back from a long weekend in Venice 🥰

We would like to share some quick tips for visiting Venice with you today:

💡 Bring mosquito spray! The mosquitoes are aggressive, everywhere, and sensitive/allergic people can have severe reactions.
💡 Use the waterbus to get from the airport to Venice city (center).
💡 Get tickets for sightseeing and activities online in advance.
💡 Make dinner reservations ahead of time! Especially with more high-end/hidden gems call way in advance.
💡 If you’re planning on using the Traghetto (Gondolas to cross the Canale Grande), check the schedule in advance. Their operation hours are limited.
💡 Before sitting down/ordering at a restaurant, check if there’s a coperto (cover charge) and how much it is. Between 2-3€ are normal.
💡 A 10-15% service fee (servizio) is often added to your bill. Tipping is not expected in Italy, especially if a service fee has been added already.
💡 Seagulls are the pickpockets of Venice 😅 They’ll steal your food right out of your hand! So take cover when eating.
💡 Be wary of anything that comes for “free”.
💡 Go “off the beaten path”.
💡 Bring cash 💵 (€) Sometimes there’s a minimum amount for card payments or cards are not accepted.
💡 Don’t feed the pigeons.
💡 Don’t Put Your Feet in the water/swim in the canal.

People usually travel with pets for two reasons: because they move or because they take their pets (dogs) on vacation. 🐕 🐈 🦜

Fortunately, more accommodations and places are pet friendly now and make it easier to travel with pets. With the different modes of transportation come different challenges.

Road Trips 🚐
This usually only applies to dogs (who don’t get car sick) but there are some felines out there that apparently love to go on a road trip as well. Some pets just hate to be in a car and get sick and nauseous, others love it and it’s a great way to share an adventure with them. Make sure to take regular breaks, bring their food, and water bowl, and make sure that the dog is safe in the car.

Trains/public transportation 🚄
The general rule of thumb is, that if they can fit in a “bag”, pets can use public transportation. On trains - specifically high-speed trains - pets often have to be registered when purchasing the tickets, and sometimes a small fee applies. The pet has to stay in a crate/bag for the duration of the trip.

Air Travel 🛩
Not all airlines allow pets to travel and the weight/height restrictions vary. However, only pets (usually cats and dogs) that are small enough to fit into a cabin-size bag under the seat are allowed to travel in the cabin. Larger pets will have to travel cargo, which comes with its own challenges and we’ve heard from flight attendants that they would not recommend it. Fortunately, there are now airlines that specialize in transporting pets.

I relocated from California to Germany with two bunnies many years ago. They did so well! I however needed anxiety medication lol. I’ve also moved from Germany to France with my cat - she HATED travel, even the super comfortable high-speed train (3 hrs) with a first-class seat😅How well a pet will cope with travel (or a move) is very dependent on the animal, and it’s always good to consult with your veterinarian beforehand. It’s also important to find out about vaccine and pet passport requirements way in advance.

If you’re planning on going on vacation with your pet (dog) we’re happy to help you. We’ve organized great trips with dogs for our clients already!

Did you know that Bali only has 2 seasons - a wet season and a dry season?

Of course, the best time to visit is during the dry season, which is from April to October, with the high season around the Easter holidays, July, and August. Hence, we recommend visiting in May, June, September, or even October. Accommodations and flights are more affordable and there are generally fewer crowds.

Bali is also known as the island of gods, with 20.000 temples this doesn't come as a surprise. If you'd like to experience the local culture and Hindu traditions, we would suggest visiting one (or more) temple(s). Here you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the history, traditions, and religion. With many festivals throughout the year, you might be able to even see some traditions live.

Pictured is Ganesha - a major Hindu deity. Every year in August a festival is held in his honour.

There is still time to plan your late summer/fall trip to Bali. If you'd like us to design your bespoke itinerary, just get in touch!
