Here are some of my favourite hidden gems in London, I really recommend giving these ones a visit if you have time!
⛪️ St. Dunstan in the East: This beautiful ruined church, partially destroyed during the Blitz, has been transformed into a peaceful public garden. The ivy-covered walls and Gothic arches create a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city.
🎤 Amy Winehouse Mural in Camden: While many people flock to the Amy Winehouse statue in Camden, this lesser-known mural is a vibrant tribute to the singer. Offering a more intimate connection to Amy’s legacy in the neighbourhood she loved.
🌳 Hampstead Village: A village frozen in time, with cobbled streets, historic pubs, independent shops and cafes, charming streets, Keats House, or explore the Pergola and Hill Garden.
🏛️ Leighton House Museum: The former home of Victorian artist Frederic Leighton, this museum is an underrated gem. The highlight is the opulent Arab Hall, with its intricate tiles, golden dome, and fountain.
🎶 Wilton’s Music Hall: Wilton’s is the world’s oldest surviving music hall, hidden down a quiet alley. It has been beautifully preserved, with its original features intact. It hosts a variety of performances, from theatre to live music, but even just visiting for a drink in the atmospheric Mahogany Bar is a treat.
👃🏻 The Seven Noses of Soho: This quirky art project by artist Rick Buckley involved placing sculpted noses around Soho in protest against CCTV surveillance. Hunting them down provides a fun and unusual way to explore Soho’s hidden corners.
⛵️ Little Venice: This picturesque area is where the Grand Union and Regent’s Canals meet. It’s a peaceful, charming spot with narrow boats, waterside cafes, and pubs.
🌉 Eel Pie Island: Accessible only by footbridge, this private island in the Thames has a rich history tied to the British rock scene of the 1960s, with legends like The Rolling Stones having played here. Today, it’s home to artists
