This week I want to take you to a super cool place called Arches National Park in Utah. We were blessed to have visited this park several times years ago when the kids were young. It’s a family favorite!
You can explore a landscape of contrasting colors, land forms, and textures unlike any other. This park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive rock fins, and giant balanced rocks. Several easy hiking trail for the entire family and is a certified international dark sky park.
This park is one of the few National Parks that is required a reservation 3 months in advance. Thank you for truckin’ with me and visit and protect our beautiful and wonderful National Parks 🥾💕🌵

This week I’ll be taking you to Kings Canyon National Park it’s neighboring park is Sequoia National Park in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. It's known for its huge sequoia trees, notably the gigantic General Grant Tree ( second-largest tree in the world ) is surrounded by towering granite canyon walls and mountains streams. Home to the largest remaining grove of sequoia trees in the world!
With its deep valleys, skyscraping trees, and distinctive rock outcroppings, Kings Canyon National Park is the place that John Muir once called "a rival to Yosemite." This park is so peaceful and not crowded like other National Parks which makes it so incredible and beautiful!
Thanks again for truckin’ with me! 🥾🌲

I want to share a really cool place with you all. It’s in the upper peninsula near Marquette Michigan. This time of year and next month it’s really cold and in the coldness you will find this magical place called Eben Ice Caves, and if you get lucky you can see the Northern Lights. It was on my bucket list and I’m so glad I got to cross them both off a few years ago. The hike is a really easy hike, and a nice family lets you trespass on their land to see the ice caves. You will have to wear cleats to get up to the ice cave. The Yoopers ( natives) are so friendly and have delicious Pasty pies they’re known for. They’re incredible!! If, you’re looking for something to do this is fun for the entire family. I just Love how nature works! 💕 ❄️

I want to do some back Truckin’ to Colorado to a sacred place called Mesa Verde. (Meaning green table for all the trees and bushes surrounding the dwellings )

For over 700 years, the Ancestral Pueblo people built thriving communities on the mesas and in the cliffs of Mesa Verde. But, around 1300 AD they vanished leaving everything behind. Today, the park protects the rich cultural heritage of 26 Pueblos and Tribes and offers visitors a spectacular window into the past. This World Heritage Site and International Dark Sky Park is home to over a thousand species, including several that live nowhere else on earth.

Thanks to the Wetherill brothers in 1890 for discovering this amazing dwelling and their fight to protect it by writing letters to the Smithsonian and their determination to make it a National Park to forever protect the ruins.

But, In 1891, a Swedish researcher, Gustaf Nordenskiöld, went to the ruins and took over 600 pieces and shipped them to Finland to be displayed in Museums to be protected. He was caught during the last train and arrested. But, was released because there was no law at the time for taking ancient artifacts.

Finally, just four years ago we made a deal with Finland to get human remains and funeral objects back and they were buried near the grounds were they were unearthed so their spirits could be free.

Do you believe in Bigfoot, the Yeti, Loch Ness Monster, Flatwood Monster or even the legendary Mothman?

Seeing that Halloween is right around the corner, I want to take you to a small town in West Virginia, it’s mid-November, 1966 in Point Pleasant, two young couples fled the local woods, claiming they’d seen a terrifying creature. They recounted their story to the sheriff and reported that the entity looked human in most respects – except for its 10-foot wings and glowing red eyes. Just weeks before, locals had reported numerous UFO sightings, and after the first sighting there were over 100 Mothman sightings within a year, and all of a sudden they STOPPED !! The sightings in Point Pleasant stopped after a horrible tragedy. The Silver Bridge, a major route in and out of the town, collapsed, killing 46 people right before Christmas. Afterward, people began to claim they had seen the Mothman standing on the bridge the day before, possibly as an omen of the disaster to come. He was never seen in Point Pleasant again, but has been seen when disaster is near.

Witnesses saw the creature flying over right before the Chernobyl disaster.

In 1978, a group of miners in Freiburg, Germany, came face to face with a creature blocking the entrance to the mine that appeared to be headless and had glowing red eyes on its chest and wings. Mothman blocked them from entering the mine, and the mine collapsed, saving their lives.

The creature was spotted in China in 1926 right befofe a major flood

Japan experienced tragedy in March 2011. A devastating tsunami and eye witnesses of Mothman flying around right befofe the tragedy.

People all over the world claim to have seen this Mothman like creature.

After visiting Point Pleasant and talking to locals and visiting their museum, I think, I’m a Mothman believer and I think he is a good guy. I just don’t want to see him 😉 🦇

Thanks again for truckin’ with me on our 16 day camping trip. We covered 6,460 miles in this short time. Driving through 13 states and visited 5 National Parks, 1 National Monument and several State Parks along the way.
Back home for a few days and our fur babies were so happy to see us. Hope our trip will inspire you to see our beautiful country. 💕😊

Our last stop was in Nebraska, we had to stop at the last Pony Express Station in Gothenburg before headed back home. This visiting center was awesome and had a lot of information about the fierce riders. I’ll post some fun facts below. 👇

1. The Pony Express was only in operation for only 19 months between April 1860 and October 1861

2. They only hired 80 riders, 400 ponies and several hundred personnel.

3. The Pony Express, meanwhile, had an average delivery time of just 10 days. To achieve this remarkable speed, they set up a string of nearly 200 relief stations across what is now Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and California.

4. Lone horsemen would ride between stations at breakneck pace, switching ponies every 10-15 miles and then handing their cargo off to a new courier after 75-100 miles. The relay system allowed mail to criss-cross the frontier in record time. The company’s personal best came in March 1861, when riders carried the inaugural address of Abraham Lincoln from Nebraska to California in just seven days, 17 hours. That is pretty sweet!

5. When they would switch horses they would have to jump off and switch mail saddles within 2-3 minutes

6. Riders average weight was 100- 125 lbs

7. Required to sign an oath and carry a Bible and gun with them and also their uniform was blue pants and red shirt

8. They hired orphans because the job was so dangerous

9. $100-$150 monthly was their salaries

10. Cost to deliver a letter was, for every half-ounce of mail was $5 dollars!! Now days that would be the equivalent of $185. This was a shock to me!!

11. Pony Bob” had traveled 380 miles in less than 40 hours—a Pony Express record.

12. Six riders killed in the 19 months on their rides.
But, the Most deadly job was horse handlers that were in charge of ponies- 16 were murdered during this time.

13. Telegram pretty much ended the pony express, kinda like modern day technology like the internet for the post office these days.

14. Despite operating for only 19 months, its riders had successfully delivered some 35,000 pieces of mail and traveled more than half a million miles across the American frontier. And only one mail bag was stolen.

Thanks to all the brave riders years ago for all their sacrifices they made to deliver the mail.

Thanks again for following 🥾😊💕

Ben and I stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats while passing through Utah and drove to the Spiral Jetty, an earthwork sculpture constructed in April 1970 by artist Robert Smithsonian, 15-foot-wide coil that stretches more than 1,500 feet into the lake. Certain times of the year the water will turn pink from the salt that surround the spiral jetty.

The famous Bonneville Speedway is located in the western portion of the flats, near Wendover. It is perfectly flat and has a thick crust of salty soil. It looks like a frozen lake bed covered with snow. Every year they have a big festival of racing on the flats.

The Salt Flats were formed when ancient lake Lake Bonneville dried up. The lake was huge, filling much of the Great Basin. It eventually shrank below its outlet and so its water became salty. As water continued to evaporate, salt deposits were left in many areas leaving it white. Pretty cool stuff 💕

The loneliest road took us to a amazing park called, Great Basin National park, this park is home to 5,000-year-old bristlecone pine trees and has one of the darkest skies in the country. There is nothing like walking beside some of the oldest trees on the planet. These prehistoric gnarly trees were so beautiful. If only these trees could talk, the stories they could tell.
This park is also famous for their cave system it composed of beautiful marble features and the caverns contain over 300 shield formations, which are rare in other caves.
After 10 days of camping we were hoping to get a nice warm hotel and shower, but when you find out teepee camping is cheaper then a hotel. We voted Teepee 💕 So, grateful for our wonderful National Park system that protects and continues to persevere these rare beauties. Thank you for following 🥾

We packed up and heading East down the Loneliest Road in American. This road might be lonely, but it isn’t ugly. It might be desolate, but you will find Sand Mountain, Comestock lode ( silver mine), pony express trail 😉, wild horses, shoe tree, old historic buildings, Ward charcoal ovens, cute little towns we passed along the way until it led us to our next adventure,

Once again we packed up our tent and headed to a new National Park that has been on my bucket list for sometime now. Lassen Volcanic National Park, this park was absolutely beautiful with its painted dunes, mountains, lakes, boiling mud pots, fumaroles, and hot springs. Only in this park and few areas in the world where all four types of volcano can be found—plug dome, shield, cinder cone, and stratovolcano. Hiking cinder cone was pretty challenging, but so worth it when we got to the top and explored the belly of volcano. We also hiked Bumpass trail to some of their hydrothermal areas and mud pots, so cool.
We stayed in a little primitive cabin with no electricity, but they did have propane heat which was awesome since it’s pretty chilly by the lake. These cabins were perfect and the view was so pretty and the night was full of stars. Thank you for truckin’ with us 🥾🌲💕

We followed scenic Hwy 101 down and it lead us through the “Avenue of the Giants”, to our campsite. This was my favorite camping spot ever. We were surrounded by these beautiful giants with groves we could walk through from our site. The calmness walking through the darken forest and looking up to the tallest trees in the world is unreal.
There is nothing better than two baby Redwoods holding you up and rocking you to sleep in your hammock.
Love our trees and our beautiful State and National Parks 🥾🌲

Love all the cool things you can find on the Oregon coast. We heard this barking sounds and a family of sea lions were below us. It was amazing. The tide was out and the tide pools were full of all kinds of sea anemones. Sneaker waves were being pretty sneaky so we were very cautious. We got a break from camping food and treated ourselves to a seafood dinner at Luna’s. It was so delicious!

Just down Highway 101 from our campsite is this amazing Black Pebble Beach. This rare and unique beach has basalt cobblestones and are said to be the result of a lava flow dating back roughly 14 million years. The smooth black stones cover the beach, glittering in the rising and falling tide, making a marble sound as they roll back into ocean. I found this place so amazing I didn’t want to leave.

We decided to go to Silver Falls State Park and hike the “Trail of Ten Falls”. It’s a 8.5 mile hike through evergreens and mossy trees with huckleberries that lined the way. We landed in Hood River, Oregon with a cool little campsite in a state park . But, rain was in the forecast for a few days, so we decided not set up a tent in the pouring rain. Luckily KOA saved us and had a cabin in the same little town. I just loved the few waterfalls and trails we got to walk on at our old campsite before heading to our cabin. The rain really made things pop.

Hood River is located at the panoramic crossroads of the Columbia River Gorge and the Cascade Range. So many beautiful waterfalls and hiking and plenty of good fishing in this area.

T.A.Moulton Barn-Teton National Park

Passing through the beautiful Teton National Park and had to stop by and see this beautiful barn that I photographed years ago in the winter. They had gotten over 74 inches of snow that day and the road was closed. So, I decided to hike 2 1/2 miles alone to see it. Probably, not the smartest thing I have ever done when I discovered animal tracks all around me and I was chest high in snow and the sun was being swallowed up by the mountains. Luckily, Ben had turn on the headlights so I followed them back to safety.

Just wanted to point out safety is first and no photograph is worth your life or being dragged off by the Abominable Snowman.
Thank you for following me and Keep on Truckin’ safety style 🥾😉

I’m so excited to cross of Wind Cave National Park off my bucket list. This makes number 40 of 63 National Parks that Ben and I have visited. What makes this park so special is its outstanding display of boxwork, an unusual cave formation composed of thin calcite fins resembling honeycombs. The park's mixed-grass prairie is one of the few remaining and is home to native wildlife such as bison, elk, pronghorn, mule deer, coyotes, and very cute prairie dogs. Lots of short and easy hikes where you can see the beauty of this park. The cave was closed, but we found a lot of cool view points and hikes along the way and a big scruffy bison, that I named Buster. Thank you for following and please visit and protect our National Parks 🦬💕🥾

This week I want to take you to “Fall in Rocky Mountain National Park”.

This time of year is absolutely beautiful!! With the Elk Rut, the Aspen trees turning and the cool breeze against your back. We were lucky enough to witness the Elk Rut, I found it so amazing how the bulls would bugle and fight for their cows and call them over with this sound, leaving one lonely bull and one with about 15 cows.
Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado spans the Continental Divide and encompasses protected mountains, forests and alpine tundra. So many beautiful and easy trails you can hike.
At this park you will need a timed entry pass to get in, so plan ahead. But, if you camp in the park you will not need one. Thank you for following me. 🏕️💕

This week I want to take you to one of the least visited National Parks in America. Don’t let this fool you!

The 53 mile long canyon is one of the narrowest (1,100 feet) and deepest in the western U.S. (greater than 2,700 feet). The river gradient (96 feet per mile) is the 5th steepest mountain descent in the world.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is absolutely gorgeous! This park exposes you to some of the steepest cliffs, oldest rock, (over 1.8 million years old) and craggiest spires in North America. It’s Deep, Steep and Narrow. What I love about this park is that you can see so much from your car with very little hiking to see these incredible views. We went in the fall and as you can see it was so full of color.
If you have time you can hike down to the bottom, but you will need to apply for a lotto entry. Also, if you’re a rock climber this is the place to be. Thank you for following me and Keep on Truckin’

I want to take you to a place that is warm to my heart. This National Park has such a peaceful and majestic feel. With its jagged peaks to the beautiful snake river and wildlife around every corner and gorgeous meadows. You can ski behind these beauties or look at them while rafting on the snake river or even ride beside them by car or bike. This place is absolutely gorgeous in the summer and even in the winter.
This park is located in Wyoming close to Yellowstone National Park. Grand Teton National Park is named for Grand Teton, the tallest mountain in the Teton Range. The naming of the mountains is attributed to early 19th-century French-speaking trappers—they called it, les trois tétons (the three teats) was later shortened to Tetons. 😜
Thank you , John D. Rockefeller, Jr. who donated the land so it would be protected to the government so everyone rich and poor could enjoy this beautiful place. Thank you for following me. Keep on truckin’

Very interesting! Love our beautiful Redwoods!

Redwoods are weird. 🤔

The first time I visited the redwoods, I was obviously impressed by their height. I mean, they are the tallest trees in the world, growing to almost 400 feet tall. But, because they are the tallest trees, I was also expecting the biggest cones. I can't remember if I found a single cone on that trip. That's probably because I was looking for a sugar pine cone, and redwood cones are only about the size of an olive.

In old growth redwood forests, competition for sunlight, water, soil, and space is so intense that a seed is unlikely to sprout. But redwoods have a way around this. 😎

You know those bumpy things that you sometimes see on the side of a tree? Those are called burls. Burls can be found all up and down the trunk of a redwood tree and sometimes even on the roots underground! Burls just so happen to contain all the genetic information needed to sprout out a baby! I like to compare them to a pregnant belly, but instead of being born (like we all were), imagine sprouting out of the side of your parent and growing off of them (kind of like a parasite) and spending your entire 2,000+ year lives together. 🥴😰🫠

You can see some clones (or reiterations) that have sprouted from burls on the trunk of the tree in the background of this image!

19/08/2023

This week, I want to take you to a beautiful mountain range and National Park that a French- Canadian trapper stumbled upon, as they approached the range from the west, they beheld three towering mountains upon which they gave them the name of "Trois Tetons" ("Three Breasts"). 😜
The first person to guess the correct answer to this National Park wins a prize. Thank you for following me and stay tune for more information about this amazing park. 💕🥾😊

This week I’ll be truckin’ with my sisters to beautiful West Virginia. First stop is Sutton, West Virginia. This quite little town is home to the legendary Flatwood Monster. A peaceful little town with the Elk River running through it. 🥾💕

This week I want to take you to a really funky and bizarre and most amazing lake! This lake is so special, the Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here album featured it inside the cover. This unique lake is called Mono Lake, Tufa State National Reserve and is located in Lee Vining, California. This body of water covers about 65 square miles and is an ancient lake, over 1 million years old -- one of the oldest lakes in North America. This lake is now about 2 1/2 times as salty as the ocean and very alkaline and you can actually float in it if you dare. I found this place to be breathtaking, at s distance it was so blue and when you got close it was a beautiful greenish yellow. The tufa towers are so amazing and beautiful and you will find this lake a sensitive habitat for the 1 – 2 million birds that feed and rest at Mono Lake each year.

This guy is my hero!! I did this hike a couple years ago and it was a beast!! It took me over 13 hours and over 22 miles, and I got to the chains and turned back!! He is an inspiration!!! Listen to what he says at the end of the video!! It’s so awesome, I just adore this old dude!!! 🥾🥾 Keep on Truckin’ 😉

Video captured the moments when 93-year-old Everett Kalin hiked to the formidable half dome summit in Yosemite National Park. Kalin reached the top with his son and granddaughter by his side.
