These words came from guests who checked out of the condo on 8/25/23. “ I wanted to tell you that many of the restaurants we went to, the servers/staff would give us a heartfelt ‘thank you so much for coming”. They were so grateful and sincere in their words. We spoke with many of them and they emphasized their desire for tourists to continue coming to visit Maui.” All of Maui is open except for West Maui. The rest of Maui needs tourism to survive.

While work is being done in Lahaina, other areas of Maui still need economic support. I have heard of so many cancellations of rentals and activities. That affects all the workers involved. I heard of one house cleaner who had 60 cleanings cancelled. On a happier note, I just read about a festival that was held in Wailuku for children from the Westside. The children received free toys, free food and fun activities. It was an attempt to raise their spirits and for the families to learn of free grief support. The non profit Na Keiki o Emalia hosted the event.
