Across from the old train depot / Wabash Smokehouse is this small building which originally was a gas station ... for 'coloreds'.

Interesting historical building ... so glad that we don't treat people of color like that anymore :{

While waiting for taxi to airport, he drove past me a coupla times. I waved and could've touched his car. (????) In Twin cities to change planes, the emergency exit door fell off, so we were delayed while they Vaselined the door seal and reinstalled. Wasn't sure I'd make it back to Milwaukee. As foggy as it was, I pulled over to rest on my way back to L G. Thankful for rest stops. Will post more pix this week.

A couple more things to pack, a little bit of gardening to do and then I'm off to Milwaukee. I'll take Amtrak in to Mitchell field, just in case I'll be needed for the Kentucky Derby trip after this one. I won't have to get a ride to come back to get my vehicle and cleaning supplies.

It's official today. I fly out to Portland, Or. Saturday, then to Montana with Rail Ventures on Sunday. Hearing no news about the Kentucky Derby trip yet, I had hoped for this trip (actually any trip). I have learned much about private rail travel and car care, but there is so much more. I look forward to R. V.'s way of the rail.

Possible trip in a week thru Montana for 2 weeks. Clients unable to make a final decision so far, but are supposed to finalize one way or the other tomorrow. Hurry up and wait does seem to be the way of the rail. :D
