In the beautiful Spring sunshine, there is nothing better than a cruise on the Coniston Launch... now operating their Summer timetable. Walk from the cottage, via the scenic Walna Scar Road into the village, stop for a spot of lunch at Herdwicks (and maybe a spot of shopping) and then catch the launch from Coniston back to Torver pier. www.conistonlaunch.co.uk

Our lake cruises are the best way to explore Coniston in the Lake District.

A fantastic new series looking at women authors and their literary landscapes is beginning on More 4 on Thursday, 3rd February. The four programmes look at the works of a group of amazing writers and the landscapes that inspired them. The series begins on 3rd February with Jane Austen. Then on 17th February the third programme is about Beatrix Potter.
