As March trudges on and we're homebound and uncertain as to when our lives will return to normal, take a virtual trip by clicking on our blog, www.twoboomersabroad.com. Transport yourself to the Ganges River in India, take a virtual cruise on beautiful Ha Long Bay in Vietnam or a gorgeous Norwegian fjord, read about the legend of Chianti's black rooster, spend a long weekend in the City of Light or soak in the vibrant colors of Cartagena. We receive no money from this, only the joy of writing it and sharing our adventures. And in the coming weeks, there will be a dozen more posts on our recent trip to Egypt! Bon Voyage!

Hope you enjoy this post about Cairo's Citadel and its mosques!

https://www.twoboomersabroad.com/post/cairo-s-citadel-and-mosques

We spent half a day visiting The Citadel, high on a hill above Cairo. It was built in the 12th century to defend the ancient city against Crusaders. Today it's home to mosques and museums and it offers a great view of the city. Cairo is known as the "City of 1,000 Mosques". Some say there are more t...

Egypt was another trip of a lifetime. We're so fortunate to have been able to spend two weeks in this incredible country. I've published the first two posts - there will be many more over the coming weeks. I'm breaking them into short reads of about three to five minutes each. I hope you enjoy reading about our experiences as much as I'm enjoying reliving our trip! Be sure to subscribe to the blog if you want to be notified when posts are published.

Egypt has been on our list of countries to visit for a long time. When the "Arab Spring" demonstrations (which the Egyptians call the "revolution") took place in 2011, we thought we had lost our chance. But Egypt is undergoing a recovery and is experiencing a rebirth of tourism. We spent two gloriou...

In light of the growing publicity about the coronavirus in China, this is a good article about how to stay healthy when traveling.

Editor’s note: This post has been updated with new information. It was originally published on Jan. 8, 2019. Many of us make New Year’s resolutions to travel more. But though the notion of jetsetting is romantic, the logistics of making it happen can be stressful. And the act of traveling can wr...

Trying to decide if you want to travel solo? This is a good article.

Introverts get a bad rap for always wanting to be alone. For those who need peace and quiet to recharge, sometimes constant interaction with strangers can create stress or anxiety — and this can be especially true while traveling alone.

Notre Dame Cathedral has always held a special place in my heart and like many others, I was devastated by the fire in April. I was in Paris recently and have written a tribute to it - then and now - in my latest blog post. And if you haven't already done so, subscribe to the blog to get notices when posts are published!

Flâner is a word uniquely French. The closest translation in English is to wander, usually with no particular goal in mind. I’ve done a lot of “flânerie” the past couple of days in Paris! With only a general sense of what I wanted to see, I’ve let my feet lead me, through lovely gardens and parks, a cruise on the Canal St. Martin and neighborhoods I’ve haven’t explored before. Here are a few random photos from the past couple of days. I hope you enjoy them as much as I’ve enjoyed being here.

I arrived in Paris early this morning having slept under an hour on the plane. I arrived in central Paris around 10:00, left my suitcase at my hotel and had a late breakfast in St. Germain. I went as usual to Notre Dame which of course isn't accessible. Then I went to L'Atelier des Lumières for a wonderful Van Gogh digital presentation, then went back down to central Paris to board a 2.5 hour cruise on Canal St. Martin. Checked into the hotel and had dinner in the 6th. Even with the canal cruise, I walked over 17,000 steps today. Paris does that to you. ❤️🇫🇷

We took an amazing 2.5 hour walking tour of the graffiti in Bogota this morning. I wish I could remember everything he told us, but it’s largely political with deep meaning. Sometimes artists are commissioned to paint graffiti but when not it’s illegal except that no one, including the police care.
