Lake Kawaguchi
With the iconic snow-covered cone of Mount Fuji reflected in its waters, it’s fair to say that Lake Kawaguchi is blessed with one of the most phenomenal and famous views in Japan. Due to its marvelous scenery, the lake has long attracted visitors to its shores. Many take boat trips around its dark blue waters, snapping photo after photo of the majestic peak.

One of the Fuji Five Lakes, Kawaguchi is also noted for its relaxing hot springs and beautiful cherry blossoms that hug the lakeshore. Immortalized in Hokusai’s gorgeous woodblock prints, Lake Kawaguchi with Mount Fuji in the background has long been a photographer’s dream.

Bathe in the world-famous mineral waters in Pamukkale
The bright-white terraces of Pamukkale are surely one of the most photographed sites in Turkey, incongruously gleaming above the rural town like freshly fallen snow. The warm mineral water that flows through them was the basis for the ancient spa city of Hierapolis, whose extensive remains sprawl out along the hilltop next to the famous travertines. Pamukkale also makes a good base for visiting other nearby ancient sites like Laodicea, Tripolis and – most notably – the gorgeous ruins of Afrodisias with its impressive collection of Roman marble sculptures.

Sydney
Sydney is immediately recognizable, with its iconic sights like Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge lights glistening in the night and sun worshippers lying on its famous beaches. Beyond postcard Sydney, this electrifying and eclectic city has layers of history, culture and migration to excavate as you explore each neighborhood.

Aboriginal stories, Asian influences, colonial-era streets, old-school pubs, dramatic architecture and always the water: Sydney is defined by its relationship with the briny sea air. Surrounded by national parks that snake all the way into the heart of the city, this urban jungle sometimes feels more like an actual one – which makes it even more exciting.

Broome
Perched on a small peninsula that juts into the Indian Ocean, the small, scenic and secluded town of Broome is located on the northern coast of Western Australia. Lying more than 2,000 kilometers from both Darwin and Perth, the two nearest cities, the remote beach resort and pearling town acts as a gateway to the region’s riches.

The most popular place to relax and unwind in Broome is Cable Beach, which is widely thought to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. Besides sunbathing on its white sands and bathing in its turquoise waters, visitors can enjoy cocktails and spa packages at its luxury resorts, as well as sunset camel rides along the beach.

More active holidaymakers can visit the fantastic rock formations at Entrance Point and the red cliffs and dinosaur footprints at Gantheaume Point; both of which lie nearby. Further afield are the breathtaking Horizontal Falls, with other wonderfully wild and untouched landscapes dotted about the Dampier Peninsula and the Kimberley Region.

Pukaskwa, Ontario
While other national parks in Ontario are buckling under the influx of visitors, in the province’s only wilderness park, Pukaskwa National Park, there are plenty of uncrowded, open spaces to explore on water and land. Untouched swaths of fragrant spruce and pine forest meet biodiverse wetlands, and the waves of Lake Superior crash onto sandy beaches swimming at Horsehoe Beach.

The 37-mile Coastal Hiking Trail is a less-traversed alternative to Pacific Rim National Park’s famous West Coast Trail, and snakes along rocky beaches and through dense boreal forest. There’s also a Coastal Paddling Route, part of the Trans-Canada Trail, for those who prefer to experience the wilderness on the water.

Wapusk, Manitoba
The sprawling subarctic wilderness of boreal forest and Arctic tundra that makes up the 4430-square-mile Wapusk National Park can only be accessed with authorized operators in Churchill, Manitoba. And for good reason: the park is home to one of the largest polar bear maternity denning areas in the world.

The beautiful Canadian wildlife is the main attraction in the park, along with Arctic foxes, wolves, and caribou. Frontiers North Adventures brings travelers into the park on multi-day, Canadian wildlife adventures, where highlights include polar bear viewing and catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights from a Tundra Buggy. Visitors can also hop in a helicopter for a thrilling bird’s-eye-view of the park with Prairie Helicopters, or in the summer, canoe down the Owl River to discover forested waterways and archeological sites.

Serengeti National Park
The name Serengeti is derived from a similar Masai word which translates, “the place where land runs on forever.” It is also affectionately known as the “endless plains.” The area is comprised of grassland plains, savanna, riverine forest, and woodlands. Although the majority of the park is open plains, the elevation does vary from 3,000 to 6,000 feet (914 to 1,828 m). The lofty rock croppings spawn visions of the movie "Lion King," and it is possible you may even see lions on them.
