Who is ready for some warmer weather?? Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit Paradisus Los Cabo’s, an adults only all-inclusive resort about half way between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific side of Mexico.
Does anyone out there love sea life like I do? Let’s start there, it is whale season in Cabo and there are whales everywhere! The beach at Paradisus is a great place for whale watching from the shore! Complete with comfortable beach beds that were first come first served.

Things they do well:
*Beautful resort! Everything had aesthetic appeal, very thoughtfully designed.
*The food was all really good with a variety of options. Over 3 days I made it to the breakfast buffet, Mexican, Italian, food truck, lunch restaurant, another variety restaurant, coffee shop, and ice cream shop. (Ice cream is included and delicious!) They also have an Asian restaurant and a steakhouse which is extra charge.
*Rooms were nice, very clean and comfortable.
*Staff were nice, courteous, helpful, and some were able to stop and have conversations with us when we had questions about sea life and other misc questions we had.
*Lots of seating both at pool and beach, pool had fun music but at a reasonable volume, not intrusive.
*They like to run at about 70% capacity so not crowded even on a holiday weekend!

Things that could be improved :
*The rooms had pretty uncomfortable toilet seats
*The app did not work and there was a general lack of information about what is open and when, hard to find a room service menu

All in all with the easy direct flights from PDX I think this resort is an excellent choice for a relaxing long weekend!

Did you know Cozumel isn’t just a cruise stop? They have both regular hotels and all inclusives, I had the opportunity to tour one of each while visiting last week. Cozumel is an excellent destination for anyone who wants to spend their vacation in the water snorkeling or diving! Here are some pictures from my hotel tours.

The Cayman Islands! This week I visited Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Lots of great opportunities to interact with wild life here including sting rays (only heard great things about that experience!) and a turtle sanctuary 😍

I did a tour of the island to get the lay of the land, everywhere we stopped was super clean, some stops even had free public restrooms available which is always a plus! According to our tour guide there are also rules prohibiting approaching tourists for money which made the beaches seem super low key, no vendors in your face! Great stop!

This week I have the privilege of sailing on the Celebrity Reflection out of Fort Lauderdale. I am attending a training for Travel Agents and learning how to best serve all of you when you want to travel with all your friends and family in a large group! I will post some pictures during the week, so far the ship has been beautiful and the food has been amazing.

Last night I got to try the French restaurant Murano and the meal was incredible! I am in a balcony room which is considered an “obstructed view” but as you will see from pictures there is still plenty of ocean to see over the lifeboats. I also got the opportunity to tour the Persian Garden Spa with thermal heated chairs, cold rooms, hot rooms, anything you could ask for.

Who else gets seat anxiety from Southwest? I am so happy to see that they are going to begin assigned seating! Does anyone out there prefer the surprise of what seat you end up in?

People tell me all the time that “some day” they want to go explore New Orleans, either before a cruise or simply to experience the culture of the city. With non stop flights coming between Portland and New Orleans “some day” should be now! Who’s ready for a beignet?????

Alaska said the new service would launch in January and continue through the spring.

Last week I had the privilege to visit Atelier Playa Mujeres, an all inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico. If you are looking for a super relaxing, adult only, well done all inclusive, this is it! Here is what I loved about this resort:
*A large variety of restaurants, we did pretty well making it through the different options during our week and the food was great at all of them!
*The drinks were great too, and compared to other resorts we have been at they were the most consistent, meaning if you order the same drink at multiple venues they are going to make it the same. This goes for food too, the room service was equally good to what we ordered in sit down restaurants.
*There were enough activities going on to find something to do, volleyball, classes, tastings, karaoke, etc, but there was also a very chill vibe throughout the resort. Even though it was all inclusive I didn’t run into people acting over the top belligerent or obnoxious.
*The rooms! Probably some of my favorite rooms, and I really love that even though we had the most basic category of room I still felt like it was luxurious and it didn’t feel as though we were missing out on anything.
