The weather here in Gloucestershire and the rest of the UK has been pretty miserable over the festive period. We've been looking outside at the endless wind and rain (and a little bit of snow) longing for some Spanish sunshine. Even at an elevation of 2,000ft daytime winter temperatures can feel lovely and warm, and spring comes early in the Axarquia. Cinco Palmeras is well equipped for the cooler evenings at this time of year, with underfloor heating in the bathrooms, dual aircon and a woodburner for cosy nights in. If you're able to work flexibly why not ask about our discounted rates for longer winter stays? We have a good wifi connection, a desk for home working. At this time of year sunrises can be spectacular, and you can see them in all their technicolour glory while you enjoy your breakfast on the veranda before heading to your desk for the day. Plus, February is almond blossom season. What's not to like?

Our last trip to Cinco Palmeras in November was longer than usual, which gave us time venture a little further afield. We spent a long weekend in wonderful Cordoba, and took a drive through the mountains to Alhama de Granada. If you're in need of a winter vitamin D fix and interested in booking a longer stay we currently have availability in February and March and offer good discounts for monthly bookings.

We are so looking forward to being back at Cinco Palmeras next week, can’t wait to see what has changed in the garden and watch the moon rise from The Lookout. In the meantime I am chuffed to have captured the Aurora from our bedroom skylight here in Gloucestershire this evening. How lucky are we to see her in the UK. ❤️

Spring and early summer is a wonderful time to visit the Axarquia. The fields around Sedella are still green and full of wild flowers, and the days are warm but not yet too hot to enjoy a long walk through the stunning scenery.

Cinco Palmeras is ready to welcome new visitors following some internal changes over the winter. Big thanks to Sergio Alvarez and the team at Chubero Construcciones for our fabulous new bathroom and shower room.

Why not come and spend a week or two relaxing in peace and comfort at Las Cinco Palmeras. After a day hiking some of the wonderful local trails you can take a dip in the saltwater pool and admire the view, or relax in the bath with a good book and a glass of something cool and freshing.

And from 16th - 30th June for €135 a night.

Back in our happy place at last - it's been a while. Nice relaxing overnight ferry from Plymouth to Santander, an overnight stop in beautiful Ampudia at La Pousada de las Casitas https://lascasitasdepapel.com/. Our second visit because we loved it so much last year and highly recommended if you are driving north to south. Yesterday a long but scenic drive through Spain, finally arriving late last night. Tired, but so pleased to be here. Watch this space for news of the recent changes at Cinco Palmeras and our latest availability.....

In 2023 Cinco Palmeras was pretty much fully booked from 20th June until mid-October. It was our first summer renting the house, and we were worried about what our guests would think. We needn't have been. We had such lovely feedback about the house, especially the pool, and of of course most of them also fell a little bit in love with Sedella, just like we have.

Some of our 2023 visitors have already booked a return trip this year, so if you're thinking it might be the place for your summer break get in touch soon to secure your preferred dates.

Still not booked your Easter break? Why not come and spend a few days at Las Cinco Palmeras in the mountains of La Axarquia? You can spend your days exploring the local pueblo blancos, hiking, mountain biking, and visiting local markets. If you feel like a change of scene we are just a 35 minute drive from the beach at Torre Del Mar. A little further along the coast towards the Costa Tropical you'll find Marina Del Este, a lovely place to linger over a long lunch.

For bookings made before 29th February we're offering a 10% discount for stays of 7 nights or more from Easter Saturday, 30th March until Tuesday 30th April.

That's just €108 per night from 30th March - 6th April, and €103 per night from 7th - 30th April.
