IT'S TIME! I'm currently on my flight to MCO for my Halloween Horror Nights trip! I booked this the day Universal Orlando announced the dates back in April, and I've been slowly getting more obsessed about this event.

Some highlights:
-2 full nights at HHN
-1 night with an RIP Tour
-6-house Unmasking the Horror Tour

Check out the rest of my plans, and follow along with my spooky adventure! See you in the fog!

This is my LAST Friday until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando.

Located in Universal’s City Walk, Red Coconut Club transforms to Dead Coconut Club during the Halloween Horror Nights months. There are special drinks, fun photo ops, and live entertainment (on select nights). I went last year for the first time, and it was definitely a fun addition to my trip, especially since it featured the Universal Monsters. This year features vampires and Blumhouse, and I’m excited to check it out for photo ops and a drink or two.

FOUR more days, and I’m back!!

I have 2 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event. Happy opening weekend!!

Universal does theming right. Each season, they create a special Tribute Store with merchandise, treats, and an entire storyline that makes it a must do. The Halloween themed stores from the last two years had a haunted dark ride coaster and a comic book shop that allowed you to step inside a comic that the Universal creatives wrote and designed specifically for this store.

This event’s Tribute Store features a facade with a graffiti’d shipping container, similar to what you would see in New York (fitting since it’s in the New York section of the park). I’m hearing there is a serial killer on the loose, and we have to make our way through an abandoned warehouse, creepy subway station, and more before we face the killer ourselves!

I have 3 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

Unfortunately, one of my favorite things, the Cabana Bay Pop Up photo op, won’t be returning this year. That was a fun way to get in the HHN spirit before heading into the event and featured characters from the year’s event. I could let my silliness shine and grab some photos with some horror icons. The last two years have featured the Universal Monsters in Gallery of Legends and Chucky and friends in Chucky’s Twisted Playground.

I may still get a chance to take some silly photos because the hotel lobbies will be themed for Halloween. Stay tuned to see some of the theming in just 2.5 weeks!

(And we're only ONE MORE WEEK away from opening weekend!)

I have 4 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

Halloween Horror Nights is not scary just because of well timed jump scares and actors in scary costumes (though that definitely helps). Universal creates stories, background information, and character development so when we walk through the houses and scare zones, it’s almost as if we’re in the horror movie.

To learn about these stories, listen to the Discover Universal Podcast: Echoes from the Fog. They release the back stories of original houses and scare zones and behind the scenes details of the Intellectual Properties so we know what’s happening before walking into the event. In addition, they talk with HHN creatives about all things related to the event. So far, we have episodes on Monstruos, Major Sweets, A Quiet Place, Goblin’s Feast, and Universal Monsters.

I have 5 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

All 5 scare zones have officially been announced! In order of my personal most anticipated to my least anticipated:
1) Swamp of the Undead
2) Torture Faire
3) Enter the Blumhouse
4) Duality of Fear
5) Demon Queens (aka Hot Girl Halloween Horror Nights)

We’re getting so close, and I can hardly wait 🤩

I have 7 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

All 10 HHN houses have been announced! In order of my personal most anticipated to my least anticipated:

1) Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines (which is starting what I’m calling ✨Hot Girl Halloween Horror Nights✨)
2) Slaughter Sinema 2
3) The Museum: Deadly Exhibits
4) Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America
5) Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
6) Major Sweets Candy Factory
7) A Quiet Place
8) Insidious The Further
9) Goblin’s Feast
10) Triplets of Terror

This year is going to be epic! Which house are you most excited for?

I have 8 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

The show for this year has been announced: Nightmare Fuel Nocturnal Circus! This is the 4th year of the Nightmare Fuel theming, and I saw the versions from 2022 and 2023. This isn’t a must do for me but if I have time, it’s a great way to relax and sit down for a while. Plus the actors, dancers, and acrobats are so talented! If you take an RIP Tour, you get reserved seating at one of the shows, and it’s a nice break for your feet since you’re booking it from one house to the next. This year’s theme sounds interesting so I’m actually excited to see this version.

Do you take time to watch the shows during your HHN night?

I have 9 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

Take a break from the scares at the Peacock Halloween Horror Bar. You can order drinks in this nightclub vibes area plus horror characters took turns interacting with guests, such as the Purge and the famous David S. Pumpkins. I didn’t have much time to explore this area and bar but I did catch a quick interaction with another group before he left.

I have 10 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

Stay and Scream is the best way to start a night at HHN. As long as you have a daytime park ticket and an HHN ticket for the same day, you can enter one of the Stay and Scream locations across the park before it closes to normal day guests. In some areas, the special food and drink kiosks are open to grab some goodies to enjoy while waiting in line. Then, when normal day guests are cleared, you enter one of the houses with very little wait and sometimes before Universal opens the gates to the event. Last year, I was able to do 3 houses before the event officially started. I basically walked right in!

If you don’t want to use a park day before HHN, I highly recommend purchasing a Scream Early ticket that allows you entrance into the park a couple hours before the park closes. You have access to normal park activities and then you can hop in line for Stay and Scream.

Do you take advantage of Stay and Scream on your HHN night?

I have 11 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

Want to know the best way to do HHN? It’s the RIP Tour. While it’s a spendy way to experience the night in addition to the ticket into the event, it comes with some amazing perks! My favorites are:

-VIP entrance to all 10 houses with a knowledgeable Universal tour guide
-Reserved seating at the show
-Pre-tour reception with snackies, nonalcoholic beverages, and a cash bar (it’s more than enough food to make this your dinner)
-Unlimited Express Pass for the available rides before and after your tour

Have you taken an RIP Tour? If not, would you upgrade to one on your HHN night?

Not particularly a fan of being scared but love learning about the behind the scenes of productions? Or maybe you want to ease into the horror and find where most of the scares in the houses are? Then the Unmasking the Horror Tours are perfect for you!

I went on the 6 house tour last year and got to walk through Universal Monsters: Unmasked, Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count, Blood Moon: Dark Offerings, Stranger Things 4, Dueling Dragons: Choose Thy Fate, and Yeti: Campground Kills.

I loved learning the details of making each house and the care that the Universal Team Members put into each house to make it feel like you’ve stepped into the story…. or nightmare. My favorite part is all the little things added to the houses that you would never see during Halloween Horror Nights because it’s too dark, you’re moving through too fast, and are more concerned with where the next scare is than the words on a poster. If you’re wondering, the translation is: “It’s a French poster. This doesn’t make sense at all.”

I have 13 Fridays until I’m back at HHN in Universal Orlando so each Friday, I’ll share some of my favorite things about the event.

What’s the scariest part of HHN? According to one of the Universal creatives, it’s actually frogs. As a prank, the house designers hid a frog in each house.

During my Unmasking the Horror Tour last year, I found a few of them: Pyrock Frog and Blizzrock Frog (from Dueling Dragons: Choose Thy Fate), Colonial Frog (from Blood Moon: Dark Offerings), and Phantom Frog (from Universal Monsters: Unmasked).

Which frog is your favorite?
