At any visa interview, make sure you ‘INTERACT’ with the Visa Officer (VO).
Most often than not at US interviews the Visa Officer VO will initially not look directly at you, take the opportunity when they ask a question to provide a thoughtful and interactive answer (without straying outside the scope of the question).
For example:
❓Question: “Have you traveled before?”
🚫 Wrong Answer: Simply saying “Yes.”
✅ Right Answer: “Yes, I have traveled to Ghana for vacation and to Rwanda for work.”
This keeps your answer within the question frame but also opens up room for interaction, allowing the VO to gain a better sense of who you are and give you good attention.
For US B1/B2 Visa, the VO typically won’t ask for additional support documents. Your DS-160 form is your first and most important convincing note.
Ensure you:
1️⃣ Fill it out accurately and thoughtfully.
2️⃣ Know ‘EVERYTHING’ you have written in the form. This is where your leading questions come from.
💬 Personal Insight: Interaction was my saving grace during my very first US visa interview a couple of years ago and I have seen it work time and time again when I visit the embassy and observe interviews.
I hope this helps someone on their visa journey. Confidence and clarity go a long way.
If you have nailed your US interview, share your thoughts and tips to help someone else.

#kenya is exempting other African countries (except Somalia and Libya) from ETA and allowing up to 2 months stay. Borderless #africa is unfolding one country at a time, and this truly gladdens my heart. Which African country do you think will be next in line to reciprocate this gesture?

Open Market Magic in Accra! 🛍️🥭🇬🇭
I had the most incredible open market shopping experience in Accra!
The highlight for me was the Ghana mangoes 🥭 - sweet, juicy, and HUGE! Couldn't resist grabbing 20kg to bring back to Lagos.
Everyone at home fought over their share! 😋
The second steal was the two paint buckets of fresh tomatoes 🍅 for just 70 Ghanaian Cedis - a fraction of what I'd pay in Lagos when tomatoes was gold.
Who knew open market shopping could be so fun and full of surprises?
Normally, I'm not a fan as it can be time-consuming and not always cost-effective. But with my fantastic shopping partner the trip to the markets of Accra was unforgettable.
Pro tip: Shopping with a local or someone who knows the market can transform your experience!
Have you ever had a memorable market experience while traveling?
