Open Market Magic in Accra! đď¸đĽđŹđ
I had the most incredible open market shopping experience in Accra!
The highlight for me was the Ghana mangoes đĽ - sweet, juicy, and HUGE! Couldn't resist grabbing 20kg to bring back to Lagos.
Everyone at home fought over their share! đ
The second steal was the two paint buckets of fresh tomatoes đ
for just 70 Ghanaian Cedis - a fraction of what I'd pay in Lagos when tomatoes was gold.
Who knew open market shopping could be so fun and full of surprises?
Normally, I'm not a fan as it can be time-consuming and not always cost-effective. But with my fantastic shopping partner the trip to the markets of Accra was unforgettable.
Pro tip: Shopping with a local or someone who knows the market can transform your experience!

I can still feel the thrill of my road trip experience from Nigeria to Benin Republic, Togo and Ghanađ. What truly made it unforgettable were the flavorsâthe diverse cuisines and the street food. Each bite was a story, each meal a memory. Travel isnât just about the places you visit, but the people you meet and the food you share.
Visiting Cotonou, Benin Republic
The Amazons of Dahomey Kingdom
Cotonouâs legendary amazons of the Dahomey Kingdom
The Amazons of Dahomey Kingdom
The beauty in your backyard - Cotonou, Benin Republic.
Behold one of the prides of Benin Republic â the towering hundred-foot statue of Queen Tassi Hangbe, honoring the legendary Amazons of the Dahomey Kingdom.
These fierce women warriors, known as the Agojie, formed an all-female regiment that defended their kingdom with unmatched bravery. They defied the patriarchal norms of their time, becoming powerful symbols of strength and resilience.
Women have always been key players in shaping world history, and they deserve to be celebrated far more than they are.
Seeing this monumental statue in Cotonou was awe-inspiring, especially after watching âThe Woman Kingâ movieâitâs a powerful reminder of the incredible impact women have made throughout history.

Street food offers a unique culinary experience!
Do you ever tantalize your taste buds with street food adventures when you visit a new place?
KENKE â Is crafted from corn and wrapped in corn leaves, it is served with zesty pepper sauce and fish.
The slightly sour taste of the corn meal reminiscent of âpapâ adds a twist, but it is the black pepper sauce that steals the show, it elevates the dish to a different height. Super Delicious!
JOLLOF RICE - Our beloved staple across Africa. It is no surprise we found this on the streets of of Cotonou. It is quite enjoyable but doesnât quite match up to Nigeriaâs iconic Jollof Rice â trust me, Iâm a connoisseur!
I did not have enough time in Cotonou to try more than 2 dishes but will definitely try more on my next visit!

đCotonou, Benin Republic.
Exploring neighboring cities in West and East Africa is one of my travel missions in 2024.
The first destination this year was Cotonou. A small city that boasts some remarkable records.
⢠Africaâs longest graffiti wall mural. It is sort of an outdoor museum and is absolutely stunning. The old one is 940m long and they are already creating another one. I plan to create a different reel to showcase the beauty.
â˘Sites the 30m Amazon Statue dedicated to celebrating the Dohamey Women. I recommend watching the Woman king movie if you have not, to get a deeper understanding of the powerful and influential Dohamey women.
The city is clean and green with ongoing efforts to maintain its beauty.
Seme border control can be a bit of a hassle if traveling from Lagos, but the experience of seeing neighboring cities is satisfying.
Good job Benin đđź

They say follow person wey sabi road. My trip to Lome, Togo with Alarinnka was a bang.
- Interesting Places to see in Lome, Togo.
*Aflao Border - Drive along the coastal shores to the Aflao Border. There is so much hidden gem in this part of the city, from the local market to get all sorts of items such as fabrics and crafts, to street market where you get fruits and the signature street burger, and the icing of the cake is Samâs restaurant for your favourite Egusi and Okra Nigerian dishes.
*The Lome beach coastal street itself is a beautiful sight to behold and along the beautiful palms are beach clubs for quick drinks as well as a playground for sandy and water games. You should take a stroll along the Lome Beach in the evening and relax by the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. You will also get to see artisan shops for souvenirs and handmade crafts.
It is also Lome's vibrant nightlife, dining at a beachfront restaurant or exploring the city's lively bars and clubs to enjoy live music and dance to local rhythms.
*Activities - We got to enjoy lovely activities such as Go-Kart (at the Bienvenue au Centre), Bowling (at the Piscine) and Kayaking (at the blue turtle bay).
Exploring the City - Explore the city from the Avenue De Lâoua corner. It provides an opportunity to visit the Independence Monument and spend some time learning about Togo's history and independence. Beside the monument is also the Palais des Congres, a modern architectural marvel that hosts various cultural events and exhibitions. You will get to see unique designs and panoramic views of the city from this building.
