The sun always rises in the morning, no matter how much of a difficult time you are facing at this very moment🙏🌄25 minutes of 6:00am hiking and climbing got us to this spot. The view is spectacular. Seeing the sun rising over Sigiriya and painting the very famous Lion Rock in morning colours was the biggest reward for one of the earliest wake-ups on our trip🥰 It’s hard to describe you know? I’m almost lost for words, almost..❤️☺️

Polonnaruwa (Sinhalese – පොළොන්නරුව Tamil – பொலநறுவை was the country’s capital from the 11th– 13th Century. Polonnaruwa Sri Lanka is considered one of the best preserved historic cities in the world. Located approximately 140km from Kandy, Polonnaruwa was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to its abundance of historic remains.
Most commonly referred to as Sri Lanka’s second ancient capital, the city of Polonnaruwa is nevertheless a magnificently preserved city with rich archaeological monuments and natural beauty. Located in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, Polonnaruwa has both its ancient city, an adjoining “old town” as well as a “new town” located about 6km away. The archaeological sites are in a compact layout, within easy distance of each other, and tours are easily arranged either on foot or more popularly explored on bicycle.
As in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa too has its share of Buddhist sites, and tour buses of pilgrims can be often seen visiting the stupas and monasteries. But Polonnaruwa also boasts an impressive array of ruined palaces and courtyards, pleasure gardens and intricate networks of bathing tanks, as well as carvings and sculptures and a rich display of artistry. The ancient city was declared a World heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.

According to legend, it was at Mihintale – literally “Mahinda’s Hill” – that the Indian missionary Mahinda, met and converted King Devanampiyatissa in 247 BC, establishing Buddhism as the island’s state religion. Mahinda was the son of the great Mauryan emperor Asoka, sent by his father to bring word of the Buddha’s teachings to Sri Lanka. Buddhism was immediately embraced with fervour by the Sinhalese people and soon became firmly established in the island – unlike in India, its birthplace, where it would subsequently fall into terminal decline

Mihintale is one such place, its various shrines connected by a total of some 1,840 steps that ultimately lead to the summit – steep enough to require deep breaths and a meditative pace. Nagadeepa or Nainativu is one of the smallest island in the Gulf of mannar.
The only way to the island is via a boat🚤. It is both a place of religious significance and beauty. It is one of the places in Sri Lanka that they Buddha was said to have visited by the Great Chronicle of Mahavamsa. The island is sandy and flat and is home to a lot of palm trees. The island is located abt 30 km away from Jaffna. There are two main jetties in order to enter the island , one leads to a hindu temple and the other to the Nagadeepa Vihara.👉👇📸

Chaddy beach in Velanai island Jaffna is surely one of the calmest and greatest beaches in Sri Lanka.

Just Infront of the hotel is the charty beach resort where u can enjoy while your stay..
The beach isn't the greatest experience.
A local boatservice🚤 there offers you a once in a lifetime experience of traveling away from the beach to enjoy the most calmest , non crowded swimming pool just in the middle of the sea..
A shallow sandy area extent for miles away from land ... The perfect place to enjoy swimming around the ocean on your own terms🤜.. It doesn't end there you can enjoy coral reefs just by waking / swimming for about 1 km from the sandy pool ( the boatman does the guiding )..
What's more 😍 it's true when u see for ur own eyes ... I experienced it for my own eyes👉The corals there were Alive and more beautiful than what's there in HIKKADUWA.( 🙉 it's a secret 😉) may be the uncontrolled visiting has damaged the corals there but for Velanai island coral the story is a total different one... There's no snorkeling sets offered there or scooba diving ( since still the tourism there is on the way of developing )..
They only offer goggles there..
The total ride for about 3 - 5 hours cost about 12 000 rupees but the experience is totally worthy 🙌❤️

Aberdeen Falls🏞️ is a 98 m (322 ft) high waterfall on the Kehelgamu Oya near Ginigathena, in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka. Aberdeen is named after Aberdeen, the third largest city in Scotland and the capital of Aberdeenshire. Kehelgamu Oya is a major tributary of the Kelani River.🌊🏞️

To reach Aberdeen Falls from Ginigathena town, one then must proceed along Ambatale Road up to the Buddha statue at the end of the road. Then one should park their vehicle and walk about 1.2 km along the road. Bathing in the middle of the pool and swimming to the middle has caused death to swimmers in the past. This waterfall is covered with a big stone complex behind. The waterfall is ranked as the 18th highest on the Island..📍

The amazing Adam’s Peak is Sri Lanka’s fourth highest mountain at 2244m and is located 40km northeast of Ratnapura.
Adam’s Peak or the Sri Pada is an important pilgrim site. Buddhist believe the impression on the summit is the footprint of lord Buddha himself. Though it takes around 5 hours to reach the peak by foot, devotees of many religions climb the mountain daily to invoke blessings. The mountain is also named as Samanala Kanda or Butterfly Mountain.

The pilgrims season to Sri Pada traditionally starts on the full moon of December and ends on the full moon of April. During the first half of the season the night ascent isn’t crowded. However during the latter half of the season, more people attempt the climb with each passing day.

When the sun is just about to rise, the pilgrims and tourists rush to the eastern side to witness an amazng spectacle. The sun almost leaps over the eastern horizon drawing a perfect triangle of a shadow of the mountain spreading over the western backdrop of the mountain. As the sun☀️⛅ keeps on rising, the shadow shifts towards the base of the mountain until it completely disappears, a grand finale to a breathtaking natural spectacle.

Peacock hill Mountain is the highest peak⛰️ in Pussellawa - Sri Lanka (1513 meters above sea level), rising only 200 meters above the Pussellawa city. Peacock hill is easily accessible by using the roads across the villages.
Peacock Hill Mountain is one of the most panoramic 🌄vantage points of Pussellawa which gives an extraordinary view of the most mountains and cities around where you could absorb the beauty of Gampola town, Pussellawa town, Ambuluwawa, Dolosbage mountain range, Nawalapitiya town, Nuwara-Eliya town, Pidurutalagala range, Kotmale reservoir & Bible rock. A traveler would have a wonderful time walking up the hill in the midst of the immaculate Pussellawa atmosphere.
