After months of closure Walt Disney Parks and Resorts submitted its plans to reopen Walt Disney World® Resort at the Orange County Economic Task Force today.
The plans include to reopen Magic Kingdom® and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® parks on July 11 followed by plans to open Epcot® and Disney’s Hollywood Studios® parks on July 15.
Disney voices an intent to implement a new reservation system where guests will have to acquire entry for the theme parks in advance much like they are currently using at The Shanghai Disneyland®. This system will be used to create a reduction in capacity in the parks, restaurants, retail locations and attractions.
Much like Disney Springs, Disney parks will require face coverings for its guests and cast members while in the parks. Disney will also implement plexiglass barriers in locations where physical distance cannot be maintained.
In an extra effort to reduce contact, Disney will expand mobile ordering opportunities and will emphasize contactless payment.
An increased presence of hand-washing and sanitation stations for guests and cast members will be present both on-stage and off. The parks will also continue its Social Distancing Squad as seen in Disney Springs, where it moves cast members from roles temporarily unavailable to a new team intended to help guests maintain proper safety regulations.
Lastly, in order to prevent large crowds and physical touch, Disney will temporarily suspend meet-and-greets, parades, fireworks shows and areas like playgrounds and water features.
There is still no word on Walt Disney World® Resort Hotels or on the self quarantine mandate for select out of state travelers to the state of Florida.
