Utah's Wasatch West unit is one tough and rough hunt since our past 2022 winter that was overly extreme on the deer population, but with enough hard work and perseverance there are still some Bucks running around! made the best of the situation, hunted hard and was successful on finding this nice 4x4 Muley to put his tag on!!! Congratulations Brother on a great buck and on the W.W. success!!!

It's been a weird rifle season. Saw over 100 does and fawns, some small bucks, and one decent 3x4, but after not seeing a buck in 2 days, our hunter, Marine Corp Veteran Doug B. Wasn't passing up the opportunity on a great 2x2 with eye guards!! He wanted to experience hunting here in Utah and made the trek with 3 of his great friends all the way from Ohio. So after a 132 mile round trip side by side ride, glassing every vantage point and seeing over 25 does and fawns, the night couldn't of ended any better!!!

Thank you Doug for trusting us with your hunt and you, Brad, John and Jordan are welcome to hunt with us anyday!! What a great group of men and professionals!!

It's not very often that we take out youth hunters on a Limited Entry Hunt, and that's usually because of the amount of points it takes to draw. But that wasn't the case when our great friend called us to let us know his 15 year old boy was lucky enough to draw with only 2 points for the mid season tag!!

We've had the pleasure of guiding Chavis's own dad a few years back so there was no hesitation in helping with his boy Carson's hunt at all! At 15 years old, this young man hiked miles upon miles with Chavis, chasing lots of Bulls with lots of unfortunate missed opportunities due to mainly, other hunters. After hitting some pretty promising areas with us, Chavis and Carson dropped into a canyon that we had bulls screaming in the night before with a very close opportunity, and Carson was able to make a free standing 200 yard shot on this Bull and he only ran 60ish yards before piling up in some nasty deadfall!! Carson not only busted his butt to kill a Bull, but didn't complain once while packing out both fronts and both backstraps on a multi pack out endeavor!! Congratulations Carson!!! And we are so pumped you got to experience an unforgettable Elk hunt with your dad by your side!! 3 elk under your belt at 15 years old is an amazing accomplishment young man!!! Congrats for being such a stud as well Chavis!! It's always a pleasure hunting with you!!!

Maj. Jesse Campbell and I once served together in the US Army where he still actively serves, so it was only fitting for him to bring his wife Nydia up to LRO when she drew the LE Rifle tag. Jesse, Nydia and Team Guide Kevin hunted hard and had quite the opportunity on multiple Bulls until she decided this was the one she wanted for her first Bull Elk! The pack out was brutal and a long hike out, but the Campbell's are amazing people and I couldn't of asked for a better mentor and leader while we served together! Congratulations Nydia and thank you for trusting LRO!!

After his Dad, Todd, killed his very first Bull on opening day, we already knew it would only be a matter of time before Dalton would be notching his very own tag on a nice OTC Bull! Team Guide never disappoints on these hunts and his clients usually go home with lots of laughs, memories and the highly sought after Trophy!!!

Congrats gentlemen, and be safe on your way back to Texas! We already know this won't be our last hunt together!!! Great Job as usual Tony!! You are a rockstar and so are the packout crew!!

Alot of hunters wait years to draw a coveted Limited Entry Elk tag here in Utah, and with a wildfire burning through some of the Wasatch, alot of hunters were pushed into unfamiliar areas which created a sea of orange on every ridge top and inside every canyon. Our Brother in Law finally drew his tag and came to hunt with us in hopes of finding a diamond in the rough as the Wasatch isn't managed for top trophy animals. Accompanied by his 3 Brothers, we were able to finally catch a Bull on the pursuit of some cows and after a bugle to stop him in his tracks, made a perfect free standing 275 yard shot dropping this old warrior of a Bull in his tracks! He isn't the biggest but this is probably one of the oldest Bulls we've seen on this unit, with regressed antlers, broken tines and the Bugle of an old Troll, it was quite the experience and packout! It was a blessing being able to help one of our favorite Brother in Laws notch his tag on the 2nd morning of the hunt! Especially after not seeing a single Bull opening morning and dealing with weird heat and extreme high winds! Congrats Brother! Thank you for putting your trust in us and huge shoutout to Dan, Matt and Shane for the huge help on the packout!

Hunter and Team Guide made the best of an opening morning OTC Open Bull Rifle Hunt by sealing the deal and notching his tag on this stud Bull. Anyone who has tried hunting the open bull units in Utah knows the extreme difficulty of not just filling a tag, but sometimes even seeing any elk. With a wildfire burning through one of the OTC units and hunters scrambling and crowding other units and areas, Josh was still able to persevere and get it done! Congrats Brother on a huge accomplishment!

Dalton and his Dad Todd came out from the great state of Texas to hunt with Team Guide and Todd was able to fulfill a 30 year dream on our OTC Open Bull hunt, on opening morning! Congratulations on an awesome achievement, an incredible Bull and the memories of sharing it with your son! NOw it's Daltons turn to fill his tag and after their experience this morning, it shouldn't take long for him to do so!!!

Our hunter Rick drove all the way out from North Carolina to give archery Elk hunting another try after not hunting for Elk since 1985 when he and his family were stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He hunted hard every day, was in Elk every day and had quite a few encounters before he was finally able to seal the deal alongside LRO longtime clients Eric F., Eric S., as well as team guide . Rick got his "Welcome to Elk Hunting" stripes after an 800 ft elevation packout that was only 800 yards to the machine! But in the end a great man was able to take home some great meat and memories! Thanks again Brother, it was a pleasure meeting you!

Trying to kill a nice mature bull is pretty tough, doing so with a bow is tougher! Mark wasn't afraid to get in deep to locate one of these OTC brutes and Team LRO Guide put him in the right area at the right time and Mark was able to notch his tag on this badass Archery Bull! Congrats Mark, you definitely earned this one Brother!

Matt's first year with LRO was 2023, where during his hunt he had 3 opportunities on elk with his bow but fate, and branches, deemed his shots fell short. He made it a personal goal to come back this year and make up for the prior season and he did just that on day 1 of his hunt with Team Guide ! Matt was able to make a perfectly placed shot not far from where he had missed the year prior thus deeming this area as "Redemption Ridge"!!!
Congratulations Matt on a successful hunt and it was a pleasure having you back at LRO! We will see you again next year Brother!!

U.S. Army Veteran Shaun came all the way out from Texas to give Mountain Muleys a try, as it has always been a bucket list item for him. He saw some absolute stud Bucks but learned how smart they can be. Had some extremely close calls on a few 150"+ bucks but it seemed like the deer were always one step ahead. But on the last night, of the last day of his hunt, after weathering a downpour, cold and winds, the weather made a sudden change of heart which gave Shaun a 48 yard opportunity when this Buck decided to take advantage of the break in the storm and feed right in front of him. It was personally my first experience watching a client shoot a buck with a bow and drop it in it's tracks!! Best part is 2 of his hunting buddies and best friends were on the ridge above watching the whole thing unfold! What a remarkable adventure it was, and we built a strong friendship that'll last for years to come!!! Congrats Brother, you earned that buck!! Sometimes, there is gold at the end of a rainbow!

With perseverance, patience and countless long hours sitting on the side of a mountain, was able to provide a free dirt nap to this old Troll of a Mountain Muley! Bow hunting these animals can be some of the most beautifully fun yet mentally challenging hunts here in the west. There is a reason these old warriors get to the age and size they do, and Luke was able to put the final chapter to rest of this Bucks well lived life! Congrats Brother on such a stud of an animal for such a stud of a hunter! You not only deserved this, but earned it as well!!!

Most of us have been out scouting recently, (hence the lack of posting), and its been a blast. Temps have been alot cooler than in the valley towns which has been refreshing, even though the biting flies and mosquitoes feast upon our succulent flesh! They can eat a bag of d...!!!!

Anyway, Season is almost here though and we cannot wait to see our clients, both repeats and new!!

Team Guide decided to head up to Alaska to go after Black Bear and ended his hunt with this incredible bruiser of a Boar!!! The skull measured in at 20 4/16"!!!

Went out for some Shed Hunting Shenanigans this weekend with Team Guide Jantzen and although we both found Antlers, he was the only one to find Elk sheds, so therefore I hate him now and hope he stubs his toe on a closing door or something!!

There we were, minding our own business, trying to get to some shade to cool down while being eaten alive by mosquitoes when out of nowhere this little fella began calling out from about 200-250 yards away in the thick trees. Decided to let out a few garbled cow calls from an old, torn and blown out reed and this calf B lined it right to our position.
