📍Scuba diving in Ishigaki, Japan.
Have you ever thought of in ? We were in and we absolutely loved it!
✈️ How to get there? 2h flight from HK. You can also fly from Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya or Okinawa.
🦈 When is diving season in Ishigaki? You can dive Ishigaki all year round. Manta season starts in May and finishes in October and giant cuttlefish mating season is February-April.
⛵️Who should I dive with? without a doubt!
🦑 What sort of marine life can I expect to see? Manta rays and giant cuttlefish (seasonal), turtles, garden eels, leaf scorpionfish and lots of macro life.
🏡 Where to stay? Choices are limited so make sure you book in advance! We stayed at Ishigakijima Pacific Club and loved it.
🍱 What to eat? There are tons of great options, but if you eat meat you must try Ishigaki beef.
💴 How expensive is it? Japan is not cheap, but it's worth every penny. £1 is around 140 Japanese Yen and we found food and accommodation prices similar to UK ones.
🏝 What else is there to do? Explore the island! It's very small and you can easily drive around the whole island in one day. Kabira Bay is a must!
❓Anything else I should know? You'll benefit from renting a car if you want to move around the island. An International Drivers License is needed to drive in Japan.
