After 11 years I finally made it back to France...and went straight to the bakery!!!
French Baguettes, croissants, macarons, croque monsieur, French hot dogs in baguettes and so many delicious pastries.
I don't understand how people can go to France and say they don't like the food. Chefs all over the world go to France to learn how to cook. France isn't the problem, you are! Respectfully. 🤗
Have you been to France? Did you like the food?

Camel rides are NOT fun! But, I would recommend riding one at least ONCE, if that means you get the chance to ride a camel in Egypt in front of The Great Pyramids of Giza!
Last time I rode a camel was on a field trip to the Bronx zoo. IYKYK. 🤣

🔺Touring the Pyramids:
We did not prebook a tour, but I recommend that you do, so that you can read reviews before booking.
We found a tour guide at the perfume shop right in front of the Pyramids of Giza. Set up the tour for the next day and luckily all went well.
Be sure to ask about all fees: tour fees, Entrance fees, camel fees. I think we paid about $30, maybe less.
This area in Giza is very rowdy with tourists, guides, and locals all mixed in between.
👗Dress with cool clothes for the tour. Take the earliest tour possible, because the morning breeze feels great and once that sun heats up, you feel it!
I recommend wearing a scarf, like the one I have here. It protected me from the sun, sand, and wind.
🐫Riding the camel:
they are not as graceful as horses which is why I did not like riding them. Also, to mount/dismount them they have to sit first then get up. That was my least favorite part as I felt like I would fall each time. Was it worth it? Yes, it was!
Have you ever wanted to visit the Great Pyramids of Giza?

How do you find cheap flights? It is one of the top questions we get. We love us a good deal so our first stop is always Skyscanner.com and Google flights!
🤗✈️🌮
We are Tatiana & Isaac, a 30+ year old Latino travel couple. Follow us for Travel tips & inspiration!
Sometimes we have a destination we want to visit and we will put in the destination name, with no dates to see the cheapest time to go.
Other times we have no destination in mind, and only want to travel to the cheapest place during a specific time so we leave the destination blank and "search everywhere." This option essentially tells us where we are going instead of the other way around!
Last option, we have a destination and dates but we need the best route, for the best price. I usually start at Google maps then go to skyscanner.
Either way, both of those sites are the best sites to use when looking for cheap airline flights!
Love them especially for last minute trips where I don't care where I'm going, I just want to go!
What sites do you use to book your flights?

So much of what you get from traveling has to do with nuance. You can read and hear about a place all you want but until you visit, can you understand the little things in between that make it unique & interesting.

In Cairo Egypt you can still get a glimpse of the past in this huge market, the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar & souk, opened since about 1382.
You can find all types of items here. Lots of trinkets clothing, stuff for the house, lots of restaurants and Mosques in the area. My favorite thing to find was all of the older items like cameras and record players. If you're looking for a hookah this is probably where you would come too!
Remember, everything is negotiable!

Isaac and I will try most things, and very few foods do we dislike. Everyone told us that in Japan, everything you eat, even the things that you don't know what they are, will be and taste good!
We ate our way through Japan for three weeks, and besides the time that Isaac got so sick that we had to jump off of a train so he could puke in a bag in the train station, everything we ate in Japan was amazing!!!

Have you ever been bitten by bed bugs?
See below on everything you need to know on what to do if you have bed bugs and how to prevent them:
8 months backpacking and the little sucker bed bugs finally got me!
What's weird is that Isaac and I slept in the same bed and he didn't get anything but me, they bit me all over!!!
Whether a low budget or high end place, bed bugs do not discriminate AND they like to go home with you!
To prevent bed bugs, keep your suitcase closed and on a table or chair without fabric. Some people recommend you put it in the tub in your room but that may not be realistic if you need to shower.
Take a spray bottle with you with equal parts water and rubbing alcohol. Mix together and spray the mattresses, headboard, all around the edges. Also before you leave, spray the outside/inside cracks and crevices of your suitcase.
If you do get bedbugs and there is a chance you can take them home with you, put your suitcase and all of your bags inside plastic bags and put them in the sun for a minimum of 4 hours.
Thankfully we had a balcony in Egypt with direct sunlight and that is exactly what we did.
Regarding the bites, try not to scratch and buy an ointment for them. Bites can show up, up to two weeks after you were bitten. Bed bugs can be really hard to find and can cause havoc in your home by the time you realize you've brought them back as an unwelcomed souvenir. Stay woke! 🤣

Pay No checked bag fees with this Hynes Eagle 44 liter carry on backpack!
The first carry on backpack I ever bought was a Hynes Eagle backpack, which I still have and recommended to so many people.
With a price point under $100, it is so well made, holds clothes for over a week of travel, and fits both in the overhead compartment and under the seat!
Why a carry on backpack versus a regular backpack? Regular backpacks do not maximize space, do not open like a suitcase, and do not have the various compartments you need for all of your stuff when you travel. This bag has all of that!
You've seen those videos of people struggling in Europe on the cobblestone streets with the wheels of their luggage. All that could be avoided if they had a carry on backpack.
As a fan of the brand and the product, I was super excited when they gifted me this upgraded bag. Thank you @hyneseagle

Where we come from can hugely impact who we grow up to be, both good and bad. Where we come from can influence who we think we can become, it can affect what we think we can achieve, and it can hold us back from people and places that we may deem inaccessible.
As a "Latina Hecho en el Bronx," I traversed the entire world with this shirt, wearing it in 13 countries, with the idea of reminding myself and others, that where we come from does not have to be a limitation on where we can go.
As a Latina Hecho en el Bronx, I traveled the world for 10 months, Living out the dream of so many people just like me. If ever you thought, " I can't do that" or "it's not in the cards for me" know that I once thought that too, until I experienced it for myself.
In 10 months traveled, I think we met only 2 Latinas. There are a lot more of us who exist. So take this as your notice and inspiration that there is more to the world, than the world we know and grew up in. Maybe traveling the world wasn't your dream. Maybe all this time, you've just been trying to survive. I'm here to tell you that surviving is NOT all of what life is supposed to be. Know that just because you came from humble beginnings, that does not mean you can not romanticize and create a bigger beautiful life!
Hey You Little Latina girl Hecho en el Bronx, There is a whole world out there waiting for you to see it!

One of the most interesting landscapes in the world can be found in the region of Cappadocia, Turkey.
Here you witness the famous Fairy Chimneys, & carved rock homes and buildings that historians believe were cut out possibly 3000-4000 years ago.
The uniqueness of the region was created Millions of years ago, when Volcanoes spewed ash across this region, and covered the area with tuff stone, a relatively soft rock that could easily be carved into. There are traces of settlement in the region as early as prehistoric times, but it is unknown as to whether the carvings started then.
Many of the caves can be found abandoned, some turned into museums, or hotels, but some still have people living in them. As we were taking pictures we noticed a cave with a real door and a satellite dish.
You can find tours in the area that will take you to visit these historic wonders, or you can do what we did and just drive around, casually getting lost in the area. Please be mindful of others and be respectful. At the time we did not realize how old they were.
This specific location was in Avanos, down the street from the beautiful Fairyland Cave hotel.

We wish people would have told us how much a hot air balloon ride cost.
We dreamt of flying in the hot air balloons in Cappadocia but no one told us how expensive they are.
From what we heard, the rides used to be really inexpensive but once social media started highlighting Cappadocia as the magical region it is, all of the local hot air balloon companies decided to join forces and all raise their prices. As a business, it's genius because they all make money, but as a consumer, the price is really high. However, they know that tourists, especially Western tourists, will pay the high prices no matter what.
We almost backed out once we saw the the high cost was outside of our budget, but this was legit a bucketlist item, so we went Forward with it.
The average standard per person price for a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia is over $300. You will see a lot of prices in Euro so be sure to convert correctly.
We eventually got our hot Air Balloon for $330 for two people, which was the cheapest we could find in July.
Here are tips on how to find the best price:
1) For the CHEAPEST Hot Air Balloon PRICE, Travel in the off season. In January you can find rides for $85 per person.
If you go in the busy summer season, the prices will be 3 to 4 times as much.
2) After much research we found travel-cappadoccia.com had the best deals. You reserve through their website, then someone will contact you by what's app. You can pay be credit card or buy cash. Usually, they will offer you a discounted price if you pay by cash. We did! The flight was perfect. We rode over Göreme through the valley with dozens of hot air balloons around us.
Extra Tip: Book your flight your first full day in Cappadocia and give yourself extra days in case you cannot fly up due to wind and weather.

The best Shave in the World is definitely in Turkey! Every guy in the street has a clean shave and a fresh fade!
You can find the big fancy barbers famous on social media in Istanbul, but as we passed this old school barbershop in Urgup we knew it would have the experience needed.
Using our favorite translation app, @Google translate, we were able to communicate.
This kind gentleman is 80 years old and has been cutting hair for 50 years. As is traditional in Turkish Hospitality, as Isaac got a hair cut, he offered us both tea while we waited.
Getting a shave and haircut here is a whole experience.

Comment below if you're a "budget" traveler? What do you call yourselves?
I guess the concept of a budget traveler can be subjective because what may be a small budget to one person may be a luxury to someone else.
We are not college kids so we don't feel like budgeting so hard where we are sleeping on the side of the road or on a mattress with 20 people. That sounds miserable to us.
On average, especially in South East Asia, you can find really nice places between the $10-20 price range. As a couple it made more sense for us to get an Airbnb or guest house instead of a hostel to share a whole place with.
I'm not knocking any experience but as 30+ year old travelers we do travel a little differently. 🤣
