Paris can be controversial. Some people hate it, and some people love it! I came to Paris for the first time when I was 21 and I was afraid that returning in my 30s would make me see it differently. Truth be told, I still love it!

It took me 12 years to return, and I was finally able to come with Isaac. I am happy to report he loves it too.

Paris is a big bustling city. There are a lot of people, lots of garbage, and a bit of chaos, but here is what I love about Paris:

I love that you can walk around the city doing nothing, but people watching, and observing. There is no pressure to actually be doing anything. You can walk around and just be.

I love that sitting at a cafe all day drinking coffee and a croissant is totally acceptable.

I love that Wine, a baguette, and cheese are socially acceptable for a chill day in the park.

I love just how beautiful the architecture is, even if it's old and dingy in some places.

I love how diverse Paris is. You not only see diversity in the tourists but in the people living here, that is of course if you venture outside of the tourist areas, which is our favorite thing to do and place to stay.

I love the food in Paris, and that as famous as French food is for its classic traditional cuisine, it can make something delicious out of the not so fancy food, like a hot dog in a baguette.

Paris encompasses history, music, fashion, cuisine... Everything that makes culture worth diving into.

What are your thoughts on Paris?

Everywhere around the world, everyone has a hustle! Some seem fair and honest, and others not so much. They can cheat the system or cheat people... which isn't ideal, but it's a part of life.

Ultimately, you just gotta understand, people will do what they have to do, to try and survive. You gotta respect it.

As a traveler we witness all types of hustles. Some days, I'll give into them a little and other days, I refuse to be played! 🙃

A hustle, a scam, whatever you want to call it, what are some unique or funny hustles you've witnessed or you've been victim to?

Pictured: this man with a camel in Egypt asked Isaac to take a picture with him.... Then tried to charge Isaac for the picture! 😂 Not today playa!!!

Have you ever been somewhere that didn't seem real to you? If so, where was it?

I don't feel like I'm supposed to be here, and yet I feel like this is exactly where I'm supposed to be. Is that weird?

We know we keep saying it, how blessed and amazed we are to be walking into our history books, straight Mary Poppinsing it, jumping into pictures and paintings of places we only ever dreamed of visiting.

In this picture I am standing in a tomb in one of the oldest structures on earth with real life hieroglyphics where ancient Pharaohs and queens once walked, in Egypt, in Africa, in the motherland!

Am I supposed to be here? This is the life I dreamed of... Damn right, I'm supposed to be here!

A male traveler's experience in a modest male dominated religious country is a very different type of experience than that of a female traveler.

I struggled with what to wear in Egypt, but that's only because we traveled to so many different countries with different climates that i only had a few pieces that would cover me without suffocating me in 105 degree weather.

Egypt is a predominantly Muslim country where the women dress mostly covered. Most women are dressed with a hijab, which covers their hair, and others are dressed with a burka which covers them from head to toe only revealing their eyes.

Women are technically not required to dress a certain way but since Islam is practiced by 90% of Egyptians, the religion does command a dress standard of modesty which most women follow.

Male Travelers do not have much to worry about, except for maybe not walking around with their shirt off in the street, which is generally a standard across most religious countries.

As a female, in some countries showing certain parts of your body or any part of your body could be considered a crime or extremely offensive.

In Egypt, tourists are not expected to dress like the women dress there but if you are visiting, you should consider dressing as modestly as possible.

Here are some pointers on how to dress in Egypt:

1) Always carry a Scarf!

The few things that I bought while backpacking around the world, were scarves.

2) Wear light colored loose clothing with proper undergarments that don't show what you have going on underneath.

I see too many women with elephant pants & sun dresses where you can clearly see their butt crack because they think a thong is the appropriate underwear to wear. it is not.

3) Pack items that you can layer. In the tourist areas you will see people showing more skin, and you can take off your scarf if you get comfortable or see it acceptable in the area. Egypt is very hot so you want to be able to adjust as needed.

4)Do not wear anything super tight or revealing. Remember you are a guest in this country!

"Ancient Egypt allowed more females into power in the ancient world than any other place on earth...

Women in ancient Egypt had the right to buy and inherit property. They could represent themselves in court and own businesses. A woman was free to leave her property to whoever she liked after she died, and she could even divorce her husband."

As we've traveled around this world we've witnessed women in all types of roles: mothers, caregivers, field workers, chefs, business owners, s*x workers, women in power and women in squalor.

What all these women have in common is one thing: STRENGTH.

The strength of women is often overlooked, underappreciated, less likely acknowledged and yet it is our super power! Our strength is what creates life, what feeds the earth, and what moves the world.

What we need more of is a space to freely flex that super power, to use our strength without fear of labels, to have our strength be welcomed in all areas...while also paradoxically, figure out how NOT to use it, so that we can have a break from always having be so strong.

Women supporting women is powerful but men supporting women is essential. We need men to make space for us, root for us, and most importantly support us, because the problem with being innately physiologically strong, is that the world expects us to never need a break! Our superpower also becomes our weakness. Being a strong woman is great, but it's not a crown we always want to wear.

Isaac: "post the funny picture of you holding me up"
Me: writes this long a** caption about strong women 😄

Tag a strong woman and tag the strong man who lets her hold up her crown without breaking her neck!

What place from your history books have you always wanted to visit?

Paris was my first choice and luckily in college I went there for a study abroad trip. Loved it!

The Pyramids of Egypt are a place I wanted to visit that felt a little more untouchable, in a foreign land, like something only real in our history books. They are some of the oldest relics in the world, at over 4500 years old, a true part of world history.

Coming here to see the Pyramids in person leaves us in awe, not only because we get to basque in its history but because in a small way, we also get to be A PART of its history.

What place from your history books have you always wanted to visit?

Have you ever been bitten by bed bugs?
See below on everything you need to know on what to do if you have bed bugs and how to prevent them:

8 months backpacking and the little sucker bed bugs finally got me!

What's weird is that Isaac and I slept in the same bed and he didn't get anything but me, they bit me all over!!!

Whether a low budget or high end place, bed bugs do not discriminate AND they like to go home with you!

To prevent bed bugs, keep your suitcase closed and on a table or chair without fabric. Some people recommend you put it in the tub in your room but that may not be realistic if you need to shower.

Take a spray bottle with you with equal parts water and rubbing alcohol. Mix together and spray the mattresses, headboard, all around the edges. Also before you leave, spray the outside/inside cracks and crevices of your suitcase.

If you do get bedbugs and there is a chance you can take them home with you, put your suitcase and all of your bags inside plastic bags and put them in the sun for a minimum of 4 hours.

Thankfully we had a balcony in Egypt with direct sunlight and that is exactly what we did.

Regarding the bites, try not to scratch and buy an ointment for them. Bites can show up, up to two weeks after you were bitten. Bed bugs can be really hard to find and can cause havoc in your home by the time you realize you've brought them back as an unwelcomed souvenir. Stay woke! 🤣

Have you ever been bitten by bed bugs?

Do you ever think about the fact that what you are doing right now, someone on the other side of the world is doing the exact same thing?

Isaac and I grew up very similar, in Latino households with lots of family, food, and music.

Specifically in Puerto Rican/Caribbean culture, the game of Dominoes is super popular and you can catch all the uncles playing during a family party.

Isaac grew up watching this, waiting until he was an adult too, to have the honor of sitting at the Domino table. THIS is a part of our culture!

So how cool was it on our first day in Egypt, to walk upon a cafe and witness a group of kids playing Dominoes? Soooo cool! It gave us an instant cultural connection... And a few of them spoke English and asked Isaac to play. 😁

He was smiling from ear to ear. They played a few rounds and the kids were so sweet, even helped us order some food and Egyptian tea.

Fun fact: The game of Dominoes has been played for hundreds of years. The oldest known Domino set was found in the tomb of King Tut here in Egypt.

Have you found any cool cultural connections from other countries you've visited? Let us know what in the comments.

Pay No checked bag fees with this Hynes Eagle 44 liter carry on backpack!

The first carry on backpack I ever bought was a Hynes Eagle backpack, which I still have and recommended to so many people.

With a price point under $100, it is so well made, holds clothes for over a week of travel, and fits both in the overhead compartment and under the seat!

Why a carry on backpack versus a regular backpack? Regular backpacks do not maximize space, do not open like a suitcase, and do not have the various compartments you need for all of your stuff when you travel. This bag has all of that!

You've seen those videos of people struggling in Europe on the cobblestone streets with the wheels of their luggage. All that could be avoided if they had a carry on backpack.

As a fan of the brand and the product, I was super excited when they gifted me this upgraded bag. Thank you

Good food must nourish more than just the body!

It must fill the senses. Excite the eyes, attract the nose, tantalize the tongue, sensualize the lips, and sing to the ears.

Special Beyti is Isaac's favorite Turkish dish and there was no way we could leave Turkey without trying it.

If you have any Turkish restaurants near you or if you have your own Turkish trip planned, add it to your must try.

What is the best food in the world? For us, without a doubt, it's Turkish Food!

Follow Will Travel For Tacos for travel tips!

We were fans of Turkish food before we went to Turkey, and as a result we knew we would put on some LBs while there. 🤣

What makes Turkish food great is not only the delectable flavors, it's the quality of ingredients.
You could eat a whole plate of food, meat included and not feel guilty about it.

You will get the freshest and most colorful vegetables. The greatest cuts of meat, the most flavorful rice, and the softest most delicious bread. Don't get me started on the bomb desserts! 🙌

Latinos have a habit of only eating Latino foods, and if that's you, I challenge you to try Turkish food!

The meal you see made in the clay pot is called, Testi Kebab. It is basically a stew made of lamb, beef, or chicken and vegetables. They bury the clay in hit coals to cook. Once it's done, they crack the pot in front of you and serve. This a traditional way of cooking the kebab in the Cappadocia region.

What is your favorite food in the world?

You gotta have creativity and some big balls to make your dreams come true!

😁 Is it a little too honest? Hear me out:

You can be 30+ Years Young, still hoping and dreaming, still working to make your dreams come true.

At some point in your journey you will have to make a decision to execute. Do you go balls deep and pull the trigger? Or do you play it safe?

Some of you may be like us. We worked hard in different areas (school, good jobs, bought a house), never thinking our big dreams would come true... and then all of a sudden an opportunity of a lifetime comes our way, and we have to make a decision.

For us the opportunity was: rent out our house for two years to fulfill our dream of traveling the world? Or play it safe, stay home, and continue on our career paths?

What would you do? Do you let the once in a lifetime opportunity walk away from you, or do you go balls deep?

I'm not generally a fan of weddings. I like attending them as a guest but don't recommend them for couples. (🤣 I used to work in the wedding industry.)

I don't believe couples should spend a bunch of money they don't have for other people to enjoy it. Many couples say their day goes by so fast, they can't even really remember it. Spending money for a few hours just isn't worth it to me, but If you have it, then by all means do what you want.

However, if you have your heart set on a wedding, you might consider a destination Wedding; Any excuse to travel. You can go on a vacation with all of your favorite people and have a trip of a lifetime.

Or, you can get married at the courthouse, go on one epic honeymoon, and take your dress with you or rent a dress at a location like this and take bomb photos all over the world! ( I'm going to suggest this last one to Isaac 😘)

I think a wedding should be just about the two of you. Yes, you want to share it with your loved ones, but that has to come second to the day being about you.

As we explored Cappadocia we came across this beautiful couple and couldn't help but get a shot.

Destination Wedding location: Cappadocia, Turkey, near Göreme

There's a reason why we like doing "mundane," every day errands, when we travel... because, it gives us a sense of connection with the people and places that we are visiting.

We never want to be those people who visit a country and totally bypass the local community and culture just to go to the nearest tourist spot, take a picture and leave.

We aim to be immersive travelers. We aim to go to a country and really see the people who live there. We aim to look deeper, pass the glitz and glam and show that is often put on for tourists.

We aim to show them the level of respect that they so deserve, and remind ourselves that we are mere guests here.

There is history in the mundane & there is beauty in it too!

Photo Dump - Getting lost in the town of Göreme, Turkey in Cappadocia.

We love to walk off the beaten path so we left the main streets and found our way down the unpaved alleys.

Göreme is the main town people visit here when they come to ride the hot air balloons or to witness the Fairy Chimney homes.

The region of Cappadocia's tourism has grown by 85%, which is huge. You can see lots of construction building out empty caves to be turned into boutique hotels and restaurants.

This area feels like no place we have ever been before. It is truly unique.

We want people to visit here but worry about the over tourism it will bring and the authenticity it will lose.

What destination or activity is on your bucket list?
Does it feel realistic to you? Is it something you think you will ever accomplish?

It's okay if you say no. Most people think that too, I think. Most people have this beautiful fantasy bucketlist and think it will never be possible.

Visiting Cappadocia was too on our bucket list. So was, visiting Turkey, and so was Traveling the world.

Somehow the stars aligned for us, and the dream, the fantasy we never thought could happen, came true.

If you need a testament, a real life tangible example of "dreams coming true" feel free to look at us, because what you are witnessing is just that. Real, raw, and a dream that has become a reality!

Don't forget to be present and live in the moment. Here's how:

Close your eyes, breathe in and out, listen to the sounds around you, smell the air, feel the energy in your space.

Make a mental note of where you are, what time it is, and what you are doing. Give yourself at least 5 minutes to just be still and be present.

Every time you feel happy in a moment of awe, follow the steps above. ❤️
