Roma is love! The town has a very unique place in my heart and whenever I go back I go and see places that I love!

That might explain the 50 km I walked on the two days I was there…

Here are some small glimpses of MY Roma. Like Porta Maggiore with freshly cut grass. When I used to live in Via Casalina (which starts at the gate), I loved the smell of the freshly cut grass. They had cut it the day I came to Roma and the smell pit me back 23 years. Or the old wall, the gate at San Giovanni, and especially the stretch from Porta Metronia. Or when you see the Colosseum far in the distance, down from San Giovanni. The old pyramid stood in the way when the Aurelian wall was built, so they made it part of it.

Up from Circo Massimo there is a stretch of grass between some trees that has a perfect symmetry, and the pool outside Terme di Caracalla has some fancy effect every 30 min and gives a nice reflection. The tiles are nice too!

The Colosseum is always nice in the dark, so are the corridors of Teatro di Marcello!

Finally I had amazing luck to get a rainbow over the Tiber 🌈 that shows its pit of gold somewhere around Piazza Venezia! Which must be true, because they are finally building metro line C and are digging there!

My relationship to Rome is one of love! Every step, every sight, every memory!

So, Bermuda has a lot to offer, history stretching back to the first English colonies on the new world, the American revolutionary war, world wars and beyond. It has a population originating from many places around the world and some of the most beautiful beaches you can find... But...

It's the people you meet that strike you the most. I don't think I have seen such a warm, polite and kind group of people ever before. The friendliness always seemed genuine and from the heart!

It was extended to all us shipwrecked sailors, and we were greeted walking down the street and everywhere we went. A lady laughed wholeheartedly and gave me free access to the museum after she asked where I stayed and I presented myself as a shipwrecked, just like the first people on the island.

From greeting everyone when entering a bus, always smiling, always helpful... It was so inspiring that I found myself wanting to participate, and doing so!

Thank you kind and awesome people of Bermuda, you are an inspiration!

Christian Radich cancelled their journey onward due to engine problems and so like the first people here, I am shipwrecked and need to make my own way from here. They built two new ships, I bought a plane ticket 🤣

7 days at sea, sunsets and sunrises, sails raised and wonderful food!

We sleep some 30 people in a room no bigger than a large living room, 16 in bunk beds and 14 in hammocks. The hammocks are so close that they touch unless you sleep x-crossed. At night, as the ship dances over the waves, the hammocks perform a perfect synchronised ballet down below.

Food onboard is first class, and their lasagna is a treat! Steaks, hamburgers, fish... All served with the best vegetables and freshly baked bread every breakfast and lunch.

Even with me at the wheel, we somehow managed to reach Bermuda. The weather has changed from a wonderful "sunny-all-day" and constant 27 degrees to a cloudy, rainy 18 degrees...

But in a few hours we will do as sailors always have done; find the nearest pub and taste the local brew! Bermuda be warned, the vikings are coming!

In a few hours we set sails from St-Barths, headed for Bermuda. No stops, no land-in-sight and no internet for a week or so.

See you when we get there!
