[READ] The Remote Work Visa is poised to contribute significantly to the growth of the hospitality sector, presenting accommodations with a prime opportunity to cater to the digital nomad market.

Accommodation providers should tailor offerings for extended stays, emphasizing amenities such as dedicated workspaces, reliable Wi-Fi, and showcasing local activities and lifestyle. As the market evolves, embracing trends like spontaneous travel and group getaways will be crucial for maintaining competitiveness.

This year our annual maintenance shutdown is from 15 July until 1 September 2024.
If you are visiting the city during that period, please keep this in mind. All our operations will be closed, but you are still able to hike up and down and enjoy the mountain.
Our annual maintenance shutdown gives us the chance to do scheduled maintenance so that we can offer you an even better experience.
Thank you for your understanding.

A journey of Cape Malay heritage begins as I leave Singapore to Malaysia by bus 🚌

My first stop is Malacca which is the “birthplace of Peranakan cooking, a fusion of Chinese and Malay cooking styles and ingredients.”

My intention to fly from Dubai to Singapore was to meet friends I hadn’t seen in a while, en route to Malaysia and Indonesia. I had no intention to delve deeply into the history of the Singaporean cuisine or culture, until I started sampling a few dishes, spoken to a Muslim Singaporean friend of mine, who also has Indonesian roots and became acutely aware of similarities between our Cape Malay heritage and theirs. I refer here specifically to the Muslim Singaporean culture and cuisine which has also been influenced by Indonesia, Malaysia, China, India, etc. The Arabic and Islamic imprints on the cuisine, culture and architecture are notably visible and I feel deeply connected, so at home.

I smiled (brightly) when I heard “terimakasih” and please pass the “blatjang” and “sambal”.

I ask you to keep me in your thoughts and prayers, as I journey from Malaysia to Indonesia. Some places specifically to trace my Cape Malay heritage and culinary roots, and some just to get closer to my core! The PRAY and LOVE part of my “EAT PRAY LOVE” journey are ever present and as I meet people and I witness the kindness and hospitality here in the East, I feel a belonging … especially when the first thing I am offered is a warm cup of tea.

…with love and light in my heart this morning, on a 3 hours bus ride from Singapore to Malacca, i wish you nothing but knowing that, there is no better time to start a dream than now! ♥️
