TTP renewal may require an interview. 😲
The vetting center determines this and it cannot be changed. Once you've submitted your renewal application with a $100 fee, (if you paid more than $100, see post https://bit.ly/3GLEcSu) and your application has been processed, check your TTP account regularly for information on what steps you need to take to finish the renewal process.

If you are conditionally approved, you must arrange an interview to finish your renewal if you intend to remain a member.

When your membership status changes, you will be notified by email. The email will lead you to your TTP account, where you will see if your renewal application was granted or refused, as well as whether you need to schedule another interview. The system will email you a notification, whether you receive it depends on your email settings, and it may go to SPAM or JUNK. We highly recommend you log into your TTP account to check for updates.

The few minutes it takes you to read this post, could save you more than just money. You’ve read the stories and your friends brag about the Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) offered by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). You’ve made the choice and decided to brave the onslaught of questions necessary to investigate your background. Now what you have to ask yourself is, are you applying with the CBP?

What! How would you know? The website you started your application on looks so official?

I’ll answer that question with the following test

Please check out the following links, what do you notice is the same?

http://www.fasttrackpassportcontrol.com/

http://www.immigrationvisatravel.com/

http://usa.immigrationvisaforms.com/

The key takeaway is they all end in .com. CBP and other U.S. government agencies' websites will end in .gov. If you have visited them or started your application, then you just visited a third-party website and you will pay double if you want them to complete your application. I cannot vouch for their legitimacy, but what I do know from their website is that they will submit your application (after you completed it for them) and provide a quick glimpse to make sure you spelled your name correctly. For this meager service, they will charge you double the actual costs of the programs, up to $129.00-149.00 U.S. Dollars in addition to the TTP fees. I would never recommend these services as I don’t trust them with all of my personal information.

Paternal or Maternal, What Is The Difference?

The paternal name question (your father’s last name) on the TTP application should be entered as your current last name or simply, what your passport shows as your last name. For the maternal name (mother’s name) Unless your culture uses both parents' last names, feel free to leave that question blank.

To Err Is Human, On An TTP Application That Is

Ask yourself, what would happen if you misspelled or omitted something from your TTP application after submitting it, what are you to do? It clearly states that corrections cannot be made until you schedule an interview, but what if you misspelled your name, how will they be able to conduct an interview, or more importantly will you be denied? Well in this case the first step is, don’t panic. The second thing to do, refer to step one. An omission/misspelling on an application would almost certainly not deny your application; however, the following omissions should be brought to the attention of the CBP officer during the time of your interview

1. If you have visited other countries (other than the United States, Canada, Mexico) but say that you have not.
2. Any history of indiscretion not already listed (i.e. any instances where you were arrested or had to go before a judge). CBP is a law enforcement agency, if you traveled or did something regardless of how long ago, it’s best to disclose as chances are CBP will discover it.
3. If you have since moved, this is to ensure your membership card is sent to the current address.
4. If you obtained or changed your id's (drivers license, passport, visa.)

The Zen Of Listing Countries On Your TTP Application

Where have you been? CBP would like to know! In reviewing your TTP application you may have come upon a question asking what “Countries have i visited.” Seems simple enough. Just select all the countries I’ve been to and done, except when you can’t find a country. In cases like this, you would indicate the territory it falls under: For example, most of the Caribbean Islands (St Croix, St Thomas, Cayman, etc.) won’t be found, so just list the territory it falls under ( United States, Dutch/Netherlands, United Kingdom).

Trusted Travel Program TTP Family Appointments

Bring the family, just make sure they have appointments. Just imagine, you have submitted TTP applications for the entire family and everybody received their notice to schedule an interview at an enrollment center. FYI, since the applicant’s backgrounds are investigated, multiple applications submitted at the same time rarely are all approved at the same time. Now you want everyone to go together in one trip as chances are you will need to travel to visit an Enrollment Center, what are you to do? You have a few options:

Hard way:
Locate the closest Enrollment Center and based on the availability, coordinate times and dates; once that is done, log in to each account as you will need to schedule one appointment per person.*

Easy ways:
Contact the TTP helpdesk. They can quickly let you know what Enrollment Centers are close to you, let you know what times are available, and schedule everyone’s appointment in about half the time it would take you.
Enrollment on Arrival (EoA) is a CBP program that allows Global Entry applicants (only) who are conditionally approved to complete their interviews upon arrival into the United States. The EoA program eliminates the need for an applicant to schedule an interview at an Enrollment Center to complete the application process.*

The important thing to take away is that there is no one appointment for everyone.

*Please note, due to COVID-19 safety concerns, these alternative options may be limited or nonexistent.

How do I start?

First determine which of the Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) best suits your travel needs. Enter information about your travel habits and click Show Best Match to find the program(s) that work for you.

To apply for TSA Pre✓®, you will be directed to the TSA website TSA.gov to learn more about enrollment, what to bring, and how to manage your appointments. You do not need a login.gov account.

To apply for Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST, you will first be directed to Login.gov, where you must create an account. Login.gov is an authentication platform shared by United States government agencies to streamline the login process and to allow the public to securely access personal information and federal government services. After creating or logging into your Login.gov account, you will be directed back to this site to begin filling out your application.

If you have ever applied to Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST, you will need to provide your PASSID the first time you setup your profile. Your PASSID, or membership number, can be located on the back of your TTP card or on previous notification letters.
