In sync off the Tweed

😍 What a shot! 🐋🐋 This incredible double breach was captured off the coast at Tweed Heads where the whales make their way through the waters of the Tweed.

📷 Local photographer and our very own Laboratory Scientific Officer (IG) snapped this amazing shot over the weekend.

🎉 We couldn't resist showing these great creatures supporting the message!

With the growing sales and demand in the EV market, expressions of interest (EOI) are now open for site hosts.

❗ Tweed businesses, commercial property owners and managers could be part of a world-class Electric Vehicle (EV) fast charging network across NSW.

🔌 With the growing sales and demand in the EV market, expressions of interest (EOI) are now open for site hosts.

💡 EOIs for sites identified as optimal zones on the NSW EV fast charging master plan map https://fal.cn/3yoJl will be favourably received.

✔️ The master plan displays the current and indicative future network of public EV fast chargers in NSW. A fast charger is an EV charger that is 50 kW and above.

✅ It is the first step in the roll-out of guaranteed widespread fast charging, highlighting where stations could be optimally placed.

👉 Sites will need to provide a minimum of 4 adjacent parking spaces to host public EV fast charging, or for some eligible sites, a minimum number of 8 charging bays per station.

👍 Applications are also welcomed from sites not in one of the identified optimal zones.

🌡️ El Nino is tipped to start again soon. After last year’s flood, it’s hard to fathom. It’s also hard to believe that 2019 was our driest year on record, but it was.

❗ Climate change is making our weather more extreme – and it’s putting pressure on our water supply. Without enough rain, we will head into water restrictions.

✔️ We’ve adopted a new water restrictions policy - including a new water restrictions ratings system - to better help us all save water.

⚠️ While there are no plans to trigger restrictions anytime soon, it’s important to know the key changes so you can be prepared.

✅ The new policy…
◾ clarifies when water restrictions will be introduced and lifted – it’s mainly linked to dam levels but poor river water quality and issues with our water supply network can trigger restrictions
◾ better details what we can and cannot do at each water restriction level, making it easier for all of us to understand what actions we can take
◾ outlines what happens when someone doesn’t comply.

4️⃣ Four levels of water restrictions remain for the Tweed and Uki water supply schemes. That covers most of us apart from 2️⃣ Tyalgum follows a 2-level approach due to its unique operating conditions.

⚠️ After level 4, Council can introduce emergency measures that will limit water use to 100 litres per person a day, for essential use only.

❌ Water carting is banned from the Tyalgum and Uki water supplies at all times. Carting water from the Tweed to other local government areas is banned whenever water restrictions are introduced.
